The first teaser trailer for Pixar’s Brave has been released and naturally, it looks incredible. The visuals are breathtaking, and it teases a darker tone than we’ve seen before from Pixar. Seriously, if the idea of the studio taking on a fairy tale set in the Scottish Highlands wasn’t enough to get you excited, that logline in visual form is fantastic.
Hit the jump to watch the teaser. The voice-cast includes Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters. Brave hits theaters June 22nd, 2012.
Here’s the teaser trailer:
Here’s the official synopsis for Brave:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

And that’s the kind of thing we expect from Pixar.
We forgive you Pixar (for Cars 1 & 2)…
I say the same…
This looks great! If someone were to ask me how to describe this movie it could be simply put as “Braveheart for kids.”
I agree 100%…
And I second the cars comment too… lol
Aye, and I’ve sure got a thing for the red-haired lasses, even if they be animated.
i’m still waiting for something as brilliant as wall-e was
i think you might want to include Ratatouille there. if WALL-E is the great silent film, Ratatouille is their great talky breezy witty movie. two films exact opposites, and yet, both are Pixar’s best.
i’m kind of with you that they’ve peaked with those two films. but their last few films ain’t that bad either. Up and Toy Story 3 are great films, it’s just that Ratatouille and WALLE are their masterpiece(as a studio)
oh i actually watched ratatouille and wasn’t impressed by it much
i think wall-e overtops evrything they ever did.
thanks for the try though
Give me chills. Hope it’s awesome.
Funny to see the Cars hate and Wall-E-is-brilliant in this list so far. When it comes to multiple viewings at home our family finds Cars far more enjoyable than Wall E. I did enjoy Wall E more the for the first viewing though. I do wonder if Cars 2 will be a fun re-watcher. Of course it helps to view these things through the eyes of your kids a bit as you watch.
I think a lot of movies are like that. I definitely think Wall-E is far and away a better film than Cars, but I’ve seen Cars more times. Funny how that works.
i think with WALL-E, you have to get in a sort of “mood” to watch it. because it’s got minimal dialogue, if you’re not in the mood for something like that, then you might now enjoy it at the moment.
their most repeatable films are the Toy Story films, The Incredibles, and ofcourse(this is probably the definite most) Ratatouille.
When does this video game come out? Looks fun.
Finally Pixar made a great teaser. The visuals in this are simply amazing and I was really feelin it all the way through. Can’t wait for this…
This is brilliant! Visually stunning but it’s got a great tone too – something different from Pixar. Bit worried about the change in director half way through but hopefully that just means they’re determined to make this the best film it can be. And they’ve got one hell of a voice cast.
Can’t wait for this one.
i was hoping for a witty teaser(Monster Inc, Incredibles, Ratatouille) but then again, that might not be the tone they’re after.
PIXAR better nail this as Dreamworks beat them to the punch with this kind of material. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON got in this sort of film first. and with a Scottish accent too!
This movie is going to be nothing like HTTYD and I can almost guarantee it will be better!
Pretty sure that’s Robert Carlisle doing v/o
