First Teaser for Pixar’s BRAVE Will Be Attached to CARS 2

One thing I love about the way Pixar markets their original films is that the trailers show very little footage from the actual movie itself. You’re able to go in almost completely fresh, without feeling like you’ve already seen 2/3’s of the movie. The next original film to be released from Pixar will be Brave next summer, and now The Pixar Blog confirms that the first teaser trailer for the film will be attached to Pixar’s Cars 2 when it hits theaters next month.

The studio’s first fairy tale (and their first film with a female protagonist), Brave centers on Princess Merida, a skilled archer who accidentally sets evil upon the Scottish highlands when she is granted an ill-fated wish. The phenomenal voice cast includes Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters. Judging by the gorgeous concept art that Pixar released in March, we’re in for quite a treat. Brave is slated for a June 22nd, 2012 release, while Cars 2 hits theaters June 24th.

When you say their trailers show very little footage, you’re talking about the Teaser Trailers. The Theatrical Trailers show almost as much as any other films.

Uh, no, clearly you fail to recall the theatrical trailers of Up and Wall-E. Up until its release, Pixar withheld basically the entire plot of Up, as we never saw the villain and the trailers only revealed the premise.
And prior to its release, Pixar revealed no footage of humans in Wall-E–and they were featured in half the film.
Good observation, Adam. Never realized their fidelity toward secrecy.
Fuck Cars 2, though. I hope no one sees it and it fails to recoup its budget, so Pixar will learn its lesson and stick with GOOD films, not low quality shit stories that are easy cash ins with huge merchandise potential.

Dude, how do you know Cars 2 has a “low quality shit story” when we really haven’t seen much from it, other than the basic premise? Why not wait until it’s released before passing such incredibly harsh judgement. Sure, the original Cars widely regarded as Pixar’s weakest film, but it is NOT a terrible film. Like Drew said below, even Pixar’s “weakest” film is still better than a lot of the stuff coming from other animation studios, so cut John Lasseter some slack. I know Pixar wouldn’t release Cars 2 if the movie was a “low quality piece of shit.”
Pixar respects the integrity of the story! Back in ’98 Disney tried to play the ‘quick cash-in’ game with Toy Story 2, but John Lasseter told them to suck it and almost ended their business relationship, until he decided to come back from vacation and work on it himself with Pixar. Look how it turned out: 100% Tomatometer for Toy Story 1 & 2! Give Pixar the benefit of the doubt. I think Cars 2 deserves a chance and if it turns out to be crap, then, well, I guess you get to say “I told you so!” ;-)

I definitely agree with the comment above this. How can you know that Cars 2 will be that shitty? No one knows. It’s Pixar here that we’re talking about. Maybe Pixar is trying to make things right with Cars. Give them the benefit of the doubt. And Cars isn’t that bad.
