Last month Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed they were writing an episode for the second season of the hit musical series which would the chart-topping music of pop princess Britney Spears. At the time it was unclear if Spears would make an appearance on the show, but Murphy cleared that uncertainty up whilst talking with Ryan Seacrest on the radio this morning. Vulture reports Murphy said there was a “100 percent” chance of Britney Spears appearing in her own themed episode and he also spouted off details about the episode which you can read after the jump.
Apparently the musical numbers featuring Spears and her music will be fantasy sequences which take place while the kids are put under anesthesia to have their teeth cleaned. Funnily enough, the dentist behind the cleaning is John Stamos, another big guest star for Glee‘s second season. For those expecting plenty of mocking of Spears’ public problems and personal life, you will be sorely disappointed. Murphy says, “The Britney episode is so reverential about her, and so kind and it’s about her music. It’s not about her personal life. I think Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she’s been through a lot. And I want to do something that just sort of says, ‘You know what, thank you for what you’ve done. And we’re encouraging you to continue to be doing as fantastic as you are.’ We’re handling Britney with kid gloves.” This is going to be a huge season for Glee and it sounds like they’re packing plenty of musical punches for their growing fanbase.
