A new trailer for Joe Dante's zombie horror comedy Burying the Ex has hit the web, and it promises plenty of Dante's trademark mishmash of feel good comedy and gross out horror. As the man behind Gremlins, The 'Burbs and The Hole, Dante always has my attention, especially when he returns to his genre roots.

From a script by Alan Trezza, Burying the Ex stars Anton Yelchin as Max, a nice guy eager to break up with his overbearing girlfriend Evelyn (Ashley Greene) when fate intervenes and she gets hit by a bus. Weeks later he meets his dream girl Olivia (Alexandra Daddario, who is making a career out of playing dream girls), but everything goes to hell when Evelyn rises from the grave convinced she and Max are still an item. While the set up is strikingly similar to last year's lackluster Life After Beth, one look at the trailer makes it clear that Burying the Ex is a very different film.

Check out the Burying the Ex trailer below. The film hits theaters and iTunes June 19th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Burying the Ex:

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Anton Yelchin), an all-around nice guy, and his overbearing but incredibly beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn (Ashely Greene). Their relationship takes a nosedive after they decide to move in together and Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare. Max realizes it’s time to call it quits, but there’s just one problem: he’s too afraid to break up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is involved in a freak accident and dies, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Several weeks later, he has a chance encounter with Olivia (Alexandra Daddario), a cute and spirited girl who just might be his soul mate. But that same night, Evelyn returns from the grave as a dirt-smeared Zombie and she’s determined to live happily ever after with Max …even if that means turning him into one of the undead.
