Rumor has it that ABC’s Revenge star Emily VanCamp is in talks for a lead role opposite Chris Evans in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger takes place after the events of The Avengers and puts Cap (Evans) in the present day. Also starring Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson, Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014. Deadline broke the news that VanCamp will likely be joining Evans as the lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but was short on details as to the role itself. Word around town is that VanCamp will star as Sharon Carter, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, off-and-on girlfriend of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America and a sister/niece of Peggy Carter. Seems like a pretty solid guess for VanCamp’s character, but we’ll update once the news is confirmed.
Here’s a brief recap of what we know about the sequel so far:
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier will shoot at least partially in Los Angeles.
- According to Mackie, who plays fellow superhero Falcon, filming is set to begin on April 1st. He added that his character will be able to fly like in the comic books.
- Grillo is playing Crossbones, a villain. The Winter Soldier is also probably a villain, although I assume that will change over the course of the movie since that’s how his character went in the comics.
- Toby Jones will return, but his character will likely appear in flashbacks.
- Hayley Atwell won’t be coming back, but actresses previously rumored for the lead role include Alison Brie, Emilia Clarke, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Felicity Jones, Anna Kendrick, and Imogen Poots. (Guess this one didn’t quite pan out.)

i have nothing against her and think shes a good actress, but i consider her to be a little plain..
That’s kind of what I was thinking too. She looks the part but I think all 5 of the previously announced ladies they were looking at are all better looking and can act better than her. I wonder if Disney/ABC/Marvel is just trying to use talents they already have in house. Plus while the first season of Revenge was good the current season has been lousy

My first thought was, god not a CW actress. But I hears Revenge is good and of all the actresses rumored for this part, physically I think she’s closest to what I pictured. I could be ok with this.

Lol. Relax guys. I was referring to her being on Everwood, a show on the old WB which has now become CW. I never saw that show but, like I said, I hear she’s good on Revenge.

I really like Emily Van Camp but not her series. At 5’8″ and physically fit and athletic she would make a good S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, the only way she could be Sharon Carter is if she is Peggy Carter’s grand daughter or grand niece. Peggy and Cap were in there 20′s during WWII. Cap was frozen for 60 years and if Peggy Carter had a daughter or her brother had a daughter she would have had to have a daughter to be the correct age to hook up with the still in his 20′s Captain Steve Rogers. You people really need to think things through. Personally, I’d like to see her playing Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel ( although I’d rather she used the name Quasar or Pulsar. We need a real authentic female superhero!

I feel like Emily VanCamp would be perfect for the role. She’s plays a mean kickass on Revenge and could also balance sweet and “evil” at a flip of a switch. Hell, I would be sold on the idea and would be so looking forward to this.
Marvel dose well at putting a cast together.
I’m sure she isn’t the bad. This movie won’t be out till next summer anyway so we won’t see a preview for awhile,then I’ll judge. I hope the Falcon stands out in this like they say he will and I hope Cap can be less corny. My point is Falcon is one the first black super hero’s do him justice and don’t play him to the back because he will become an Avenger soon! As far as Cap goes make him more of a bad-ass he is an army of one so this time he should step in to this one no holding back! I got 2 catch this one when it comes back 2 the LAND missed out on Avengers becuase downtown was crazy!
