Yesterday, Walt Disney Company CEO and Chairman Robert Iger told investors that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will “set critical events in motion” that lead to The Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Admittedly, this isn’t Earth-shattering news, but it’s good to have the confirmation.  Even though Winter Soldier will be followed on the calendar by Guardians of the Galaxy, the two worlds don’t click together as well as Guardians did with Thor: The Dark WorldThe Wrap also reports that Iger also said events in the second Captain America would “be reflected” in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which would be exciting except we already got that bait-and-switch with Thor 2.  If you missed that episode, you didn’t really miss anything, much like the rest of the series.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens in 3D on April 4th, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Georges St-Pierre, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson.

I think they meant referenced instead of reflected.

“If you missed that episode, you didn’t really miss anything, much like the rest of the series”

I’m not one to usually comment on an article, but I’ve caught up on all the episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D. and would like to point out that it has gotten much better. I think a lot of people who write sites like this (and even the readers) have such a high standard that they wrote off the show right away. A lot of series need to get through the first season to figure out where to go.

I’ve watched 7 episodes and that’s enough for me. Annoying main character, boring side characters, cheesy tone, low budget feel. I feel like it would be the best show on TNT.

The internet is full of shit talking know it all geeks so the writer doesn’t surprise but he gets paid so it is a bit.

Thank you! I like AoS and it has gotten better.

    • James

Agreed. The last 3 or 4 episodes have delved more into the characters themselves, and the story is starting to get a greater sense of direction. It also helps that Fitz and Simmons are actually more involved now instead of just being there strictly for comic relief.

Iron Man is semi-retired and there are people in SHIELD with questionable morals. My guess is that they try to recreate Stark’s tech and put Jarvis in it and accidentally create Ultron.

    • JBug

Although I like the simplicity of that theory, I hope what they do doesn’t end up being that obvious.

If they put Jarvis in it, wouldn’t they have just continued to have Paul Bettany do the voice and be Ultron?

      • doctor_robot

i’m hoping for jarvis to “somehow” become vision. i think bettany would be a great vision.

      • Lex Walker

That’d be great. Bettany is awesome and rather underused. I love that he forgot he even was Jarvis in the first Iron Man until he saw it and recognized his own voice.

      • doctor_robot

holy shit… i guess he is going to be vision. damn.

I’m going to go ahead and credit this thread as Marvel’s inspiration. ***OFFICIAL***

‘If you missed that episode, you didn’t really miss anything, much like the rest of the series’ You insult like 12 year old girl

It’s the truth, not an insult.

        That’s trolling not truth….

Wow! Anthony Mackie AND Anthony Mackie? When did that casting news get announced? I knew they had cast Anthony Mackie as the Falcon, but I don’t remember reading anything about Anthony Mackie. Who is he playing? Nice work, Marvel! I’ve been saying for years that Anthony Mackie and Anthony Mackie should do a project together.

Sorry, couldn’t help myself. All in good fun. Both trailers have me really excited for this film.

I’m really excited for the movie, but Bob just told us a great big pile of nothing.
