Yes, it’s a good time to be a nerd. Towards the top of many people’s 2011 list will be Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger, and we now know what the expect from the flick’s Blu-ray release. Along with an audio commentary from Johnston, we’ll be getting a number of featurettes that document everything from the technology behind Red Skull to Steve Rogers’ transformation from weakling to giant, 7 deleted scenes, and a trailer for The Avengers animated series. Loved CA! First day 3D Blu Ray purchase for me!

Hello not-Iron-Man cover. Movie was decent, maybe I’ll warm up to it if I get to see it again. I think “We Have A Place for you Here” would be a good scene, I didn’t see how he would be accepting of Avengers initiative, even with Fury’s encounter. I think it would be a good transition to the Avengers

    • nkutz

Sorry, “There’s a Place for you Here”.

I wait like an hour to finally see CA at full kickass power, and then they cut to a f@$king MONTAGE of him taking out Red Skull’s bases. I didn’t pay $11 for a goddam montage. People raving about this movie aren’t properly giving ACTION the weight it should have in a SUPERHERO MOVIE. When I hear about them praising the MUSICAL NUMBER I want to kick them in the balls.

Some prime, angry hating there. Remember though, as the song says … “Even Rocky had a MON-TAAAAGE!” ;)

I liked the film, mainly because it felt like i was actually watching a FILM. With so many disposeable Transformers/green lantern massive FX/cgi heavy dialogue cringeworthy moments, lame humour and stupidity coming from Hollywood to sell 3D tvs and tickets, my zest for movies was diminishing and empty of ALL emotion lately.

Cap A, whilst not the best film ever made, was still entertaining, it had character, charm, decent yet simple cinematography, and simple looking FX without being over designed to the point where it looks like cgi mess.

Captain America was a decent enjoyable warm hearted flick. Much better than Thor and Iron-man-2 and both Hulks. Hell, i prefer it to all 4 Xmen, yep even the new one. I liked the way Cap ended up with that costume too, pretty funny, and the most believable logical choice.
I wonder if a directors cut will include the deleted scenes into the film?
    …….

As for the box art though, not impressed. A full cap Shield on the box would look better than the photoshoppy pics above. At least put Caps mask on! Or better still, that 1940s style images that came out would be excellent!

I think Captain America: The First Avenger is the best comic book movie of the year along with Thor and X-Men: First Class.

    The DVD cover is awesome.

  • SmartGunner

First cover is good, but would look better if he had the helmet/mask on. We know it’s Chris Evans, we watched the movie.

    Second cover sucks balls.
    Hate the crappy photoshopped look.

Both covers should get rid of the Blu-Ray+DVD+Digital Copy writing at the top.
That kind of techical info needs to be on the back like it used to be with VHS tape technical advertising.

Sorry I’m not down with the crew on this one. I’ve never been a fan of Cap just came off a little corny to me. Maybe that’s why I was’nt too excited for the movie. I only saw it because I really enjoyed Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor. I felt I had to see Cap to be fully prepared for The Avengers. That said I did enjoy it and will add it to my rapidly growing Marvel film collection. It just won’t be up front that spot belongs to The Incredible Hulk. Love that movie.

      Cool story bro.

The special features are pretty poor. I hate watching things as extras which are only 2-3 minutes long. I prefer hour long ‘making of’ type things as well as the little extras.

They need to add this clip as well:
