After kicking off its release internationally on April 27th, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War has now surpassed Disney’s Zootopia to become the highest grossing film of 2016 worldwide, with a jaw-dropping total of $981.9 million and climbing. The sequel has amassed an international box office of $671.4 million, with $164.2 million of that coming from China alone. And with a domestic total of $310.5 million in just over two weeks in release, this thing is far from being out of steam—it already stands as the fifth highest grossing film of the year domestically.

All in all, it’s pretty safe to say that Civil War is going to surpass Deadpool’s top spot on the domestic chart with $362.5 million to become the highest grossing film of the year both domestically and internationally. The question now is, how high will it go? Since it seems to be performing pretty in line with Avengers: Age of Ultron, that film’s $459 million domestic total doesn’t seem out of reach to nab the #9 slot on the all-time chart, though The Avengers’ $623.3 million at #5 could be a bit of a stretch.

On the worldwide 2016 chart, the film has already far outpaced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s $870 million total and it’ll be interesting to see if anything tops Civil War this year. The biggest competition will arrive in the form of Pixar’s Finding Dory, Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and of course Disney’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Will Civil War remain on top for the rest of the year, or will it be dethroned? I have an inkling Fantastic Beasts or Star Wars will surpass it, but the film is showing incredibly strong legs so we’ll see.

In the scope of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Civil War is already the fourth-highest grossing installment worldwide. See how it stacks up against the rest of the MCU below. And stay tuned—this ain't over yet.
