‘Captain America: Civil War’ International Trailer Unveils New Hawkeye, Black Widow Footage
Well, tomorrow’s the day, folks! Though there are plenty of midnight screenings going down tonight, tomorrow is the official release day for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which doubles as the unofficial, early kickoff to blockbuster season. Word from most reviewers is that it is a lugubrious, intermittently dazzling mess, which is not particularly surprising, but I imagine fans of these characters will have their own distinct feelings on how Zack Snyder faired with these figures.
So now, sights are set on the proper opening to the Summer blockbuster season, the honor of which goes to Captain America: Civil War, which dropped its humongous Spider-Man cameo into its second official trailer a few weeks ago. That same cameo is in the new international trailer but more importantly, there’s a new clip of footage in the new trailer of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) facing off during what seems to be the big climactic fight. The relationship between these two characters has been one of the more fascinating and gently drawn elements of these movies thus far, and even more than Spider-Man, I’m impatient to see how they react to this conflict in the film. Though, if I’m being honest, the major draw for me remains in the detailing of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), whose scenes in the trailer remain the most anticipatory and thrilling. May 1st can’t get here soon enough.

Here’s the official synopsis for Captain America: Civil War:
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.
