17 New Images from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER; Includes First Official Look at Red Skull and More!

All too often Hollywood disappoints me.  Whether it be who they choose to direct a project, or the way they decide to tell a story, I leave the theater wondering how a sure fire hit ended up such a disaster.  But every once in awhile they get it right.  Like they reached into my imagination and pulled out exactly what I was thinking.  Which brings me to director Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

Even though every image I’d seen before today looked great, you never know about a movie until you see some footage.  Thankfully, the Super Bowl ad Paramount aired was just incredible and I’m completely sold on Chris Evans as Captain America.  While most of you might have already watched the ad, I decided to screengrab my favorite 17 images from the brief 30 second clip as the footage showed off so many cool things.  So after the jump you can get great looks at Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Evans before and after getting the serum, and you can even see Captain America leading the Howling Commandos!

Here’s the one liner:

After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America’s ideals.

Those in-picture ads are so intrusive and annoying. I know you have to monetize the site, but the whole reason you have this site in the first place is to deliver us content; why obstruct it? Terrible design choice.

Other than that, this trailer was great.

If they’re correlating all of the Marvel movies as one affixed universe, then why does this one take place during WWII? Shouldn’t they have modernized it? Unless they freeze him at the end…

“Unless they freeze him at the end…”

    Dude, you for reals?

Does it bother anyone else how big Chris Evans’ head is compared to his original, puny body?

Red Skull looks awesome. The movie looks like it captures the time period really well too.

I’m feeling a real sense of relief after viewing the TV spot, pretty much everything looked great. Here’s hoping the final product lives up to this first glimpse.

Do I spy Dum Dum Dugan with the Howling Commandos? Very promising first look.

Yes you do! So pumped Dum Dum is finally getting some props. I also loved the Benjamin Buttonesque transformation of Steve Rogers.

For those who’ll say this looks like crap, it’s better than the FIRST Captain America movie that came out. Don’t remember when it came out, but it realllllly looked like crap. I wanna say it was a Corman production like the unreleased F4 but I could be wrong. Just saying.
