Here’s the official synopsis for Captain America: The First Avenger:
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige will produce CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Louis D’Esposito will executive produce. The film will be released in the US on July 22, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays.” Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

The more images leaked, the better this movie looks…better then that X-Men debacle anyways
Agreed.
Looks like they’re taking the Nolan-Batman route and hiring quality actors in secondary roles. Tucci and Jones are money. Weaving is geekboy royalty and great casting.
F*cking EPIC!!!
I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the new suit…but I can’t really explain why. Cap’s suit is probably one of the more challenging ones to bring to the screen without looking like a Halloween costume (i.e the recent Wonder Woman FAIL), and it appears they did an admirable job. It doesn’t look tacky or cheesy, it looks lived-in and period appropriate It’s just…I don’t know….it just doesn’t LOOK like Captain America to me. Anybody else? If it’s just me I’ll shut up.
I think the suit looks awesome. They couldnt have come up with a better realistic apporach to the costume without it lookiing like how you stated, “Halloweenish.” I think it just has to grow on you.
I have to give them an A for effort on the suit. Like the Wonder Woman suit, it’s a tough one to take seriously. But unlike with Wonder Woman, they tried like hell. They didn’t really SUCCEED, but dammit they tried.
I think the suit really works, but it had to be taken away from the comics look, simply because THAT wouldnt work on audiences nowadays.
And the fact the suit is blue, I think it goes because Captain was supposed to be a target for the enemy lines, getting all the bullets instead of the “normal” soldiers.
@Marc, i dont know bro. It looks realistic…it looks equal parts battle gear and ‘real-life’ superhero costume. I like it ay
i think the question is how will his suite look in the avengers? it will be brought up to date but will it work?
The suite will look EPIC in the Avengers for sure!
I’m sure the Avengers suit is going to be up-to-date, tactically and aesthetically. I gotta say that I’m really, really excited for this film. A close friend was on set and saw Weaving in make up… This is a guy whose opinion I trust implicitly, and he says this film is going to be a home-run. I also have a soft spot for Joe Johnston, being a huge Rocketeer fan. Obvious and plentiful flaws aside, I thought The Wolfman was great entertainment and one of the first movies in a long time to embrace gory collateral damage of the innocent!
just quit stalling and bring us the first goddamn trailer!
I can’t wait for this movie to come out! When I first heard rumors about the movie, one of the first things I asked myself was, “how the hell are they going to make the costume work.” And by looking at this picture, I have answered my question… “That’s how”
Can’t wait for the movie to come out, looks fucking epic!
@Lameduck It’s going to be better than X-Men I’m sure.
The suit is essentially blue overalls with a leather harness rig.
It’s completely realistic the only problem is that no way in modern warfare could you justify someone wearing a blue uniform. That’s why it looks weird.
Its like you learn my mind! You appear to understand so much approximately this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something. I believe that you just could do with some percent to pressure the message house a bit, but instead of that, that is wonderful blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
