Fan-made teaser posters for the upcoming one-two punch of movie treatments for popular Marvel universe superheroes Captain America: The First Avenger have pummeled their way online (via SpiderMedia.ru), and both promise 3D. Sadly, neither was shot in native 3D with the 3D-BS Pro Rig, despite suspicions that such was the case with Thor. What does all that mean? Post-conversion à la Clash of the Titans and inflated ticket prices. Here’s hoping Marvel executives treat their properties with as much reverence as their fans and don’t rush the process. This revelation comes just 2 months after the announcement that Joss Whedon’s The Avengers will be shot entirely in 3D.
The trailers for one of or both are suspected to premiere before Disney’s TRON: Legacy this December 17th. Captain America: The First Avenger is directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer) and stars Chris Evans (The Losers) as patriotic super-soldier Steve Rogers, while Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh (Henry V), stars Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) as the hulking, hammer-swinging Norse god Thor. They are set for release on July 22nd, 2011 and May 6th, 2011, respectively. [Note from Matt: I believe the images above are fan-made. You’ll notice the one for Captain America above puts “The First Avenger: Captain America” as the order of the title, which is incorrect. – Update: The images above were made by “Marvel-Freshman” at ComicBookMovie.]
