CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Deleted Scene Tests Maria Hill’s Loyalties

With the Blu-ray/DVD a little over a month away, the first Captain America: The Winter Soldier deleted scene has found its way online.  The scene features Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), which is always a good thing, although since it was left on the cutting room floor, I’m also somewhat disappointed.  What I like about this scene is that it reveals Hill’s ability to level veiled threats and deceive the people around her.  The scene defines her more as a spy than a soldier, and while I can understand that this scene is a bit superfluous, it still fits in nicely with soldier/spy conflict represented by Captain America and Black Widow.

JacksonCaptain America: The Winter Soldier will be available to own on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 9th. [Update: We’ve added a second deleted scene after the jump.]

Here’s the official synopsis for Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
