It’s lonely in the future for Captain America, aka Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), so Marvel has reportedly added a new love interest for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Details are scarce as to the actual character and whether or not she’ll appear in future Marvel movies, as the studio has a habit of signing talent to multi-picture deals. What is known is that the role is hotly contested, with some of today’s top female talent vying for it. Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Alison Brie (Community) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) are in the mix. Hit the jump to see who else is competing for Rogers’ affections and to see what Marvel character might make a cameo appearance in the Cap sequel.
Deadline reports that Marvel has added a contemporary love interest for the time-jumping Steve Rogers. In addition to Clarke, Brie and Brown, they report that Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four) are also in contention. As an added bonus, it looks like the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will be making a cameo appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. (Variety’s Jeff Sneider confirms it.) No word yet on how her character fits into the plot or if she’ll be a post-credits appearance only. The other confirmed new character is The Falcon, to be played by Anthony Mackie (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).
As a bonus, I’ve pain-stakingly put together a few images of the lovely actresses vying for the role (the things I do for you people). Tell us who you think should win in the comments below (my vote is for Brie. If she channels her Mad Men character, it might remind Rogers of the good ole days). Let’s hear it for the ladies!

All of them are so yummy but Brie is my favorite
None of them look quite 1940′s throwback. The only one I know is Theresa Palmer so I’ll go with her.
why would they be 1940′s throwbacks…the next captain america is in the present not the past…didn’t you see avengers?
Poots. Poooooooots.
NO POOTS!!
But why can’t any of the actress be black or hispanic or maybe i know this crazy but…asian??! oh my!!
hmmm… propably because the role eyed here isnt meant to be black nor hispanic nor asian!!!!
Cap’s love interest in the Ultimates comics (which the movies take a lot from) is Asian, and he’s also dated an Asian girl in the main comics, so it’s not like they can’t make his love interest Asian.
Alison Brie, please. Thank you Marvel & Russos. She’s awesome, gifted in so many ways, and she has a classy, old-fashioned beauty.
Agreed. She’d be perfect. Fingers crossed
I love Allison Brie, but my choice would likely be Emilia Clarke
What happened to Anna Kendrick? Read she was the front runner like two months ago, with poots and palmer.
The Winter Soldier and Black Widow are lovers, for those of you unfamiliar with the characters, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if she was in it. Btw, I would LOVE to see a Winter Soldier spinoff movie; he’s one of my favorite comic book characters.
Teresa Palmer is hands down the best choice!!
EMILIA CLARKE ALL THE WAY!!!!
seeing emilia clarke on the big screen would be awesome.
still gonna miss peggy carter though!
so cap in this movie universe is still a virgin? a 100+ year old virgin?
Dear marvel,
Please use costume from Cap. Movie and not the silly one from Avengers. You can still fix that mistake going forward.
Cap’s love interest in the Ultimates comics (which the movies take a lot from) is Asian, and he\’s also dated an Asian girl in the main comics, so it\’s not like they can\’t make his love interest Asian.
I think there might be something there with that cafe waitress from The Avengers. One of the deleted scenes had some dialogue between the two and there was interest shown to Cap. (Stan Lee stole the scene though)
I have no idea who she is, but she was cute enough and it’d be a nice continuation from a very quick and small interaction during The Avengers movie. *shrugs*
JESSICA BROWN-FINDLAY is such an AMAZING actress. Seriously, have you seen her acting in the latest episode of Downton Abbey. And watch ALBATROSS. She was superb in that film, she’s got this especial thing that I’m sure will take her far
