Anthony Mackie Spreads His Wings as Falcon in New Poster for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER [Updated]

     February 25, 2014

One of the new characters I’m looking forward to seeing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier is Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) played by Anthony Mackie (Pain & Gain).  Falcon is one of the good guys, and he’ll be fighting alongside Cap (Chris Evans) in the upcoming superhero film.  Today, Marvel has released a character poster for Falcon featuring the wings he uses to fly (the codename is not misleading).  The studio previously released posters for Captain America, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford).

Hit the jump to check out the poster, and click here for a recap of the first 10 minutes of the movie.  The film also stars Georges St-Pierre, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Maximiliano Hernández, and Sebastian StanCaptain America: The Winter Soldier opens in 3D on April 4th. [Update: We've added promo images and wallpapers after the jump]

Here’s the official synopsis for Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

I think Anthony Mackie impressed Marvel a lot and they upped his role and his marketing/promotion.

Not a bad thing at all.

No not at all. I’ve been a fan since Hurt Locker. 2014 is shaping up well, especially after that new Godzilla trailer.

Just like they upped his upper body and made his legs ridiculously short in this poster.
