The first image from Roman Polanski’s new film Carnage (based off the play God of Carnage) has gone online. The film stars Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet, and Christopher Waltz as two sets of parents who come together to talk about a schoolyard fight between their kids. If that cast combined with this director doesn’t make you want to see this movie, you’re nuts. And while Polanski is known for the deadly seriousness of his movies, Foster says the movie has some humor:
“It all happens in real-time, so it’s about an hour and 45 minutes of negotiation between two sets of parents and how it all falls apart,” she said. “Kind of like Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, but a little funnier. There’s a lot of wit.”
So I guess it will be like Revolutionary Road but intentionally funny. Hit the jump to check out the first image from the film as well as a photo of Polanski on the set. Carnage is currently in post-production and may hit theaters before the end of the year.

“That director” is exactly why I won’t be watching this movie.
His movies are awesome. Don’t really care much about his personal life.
I don’t care who he rapes as long as he entertains me. If that’s what you beliee then you are an idiot.
If you go off that notion then Ben Roethlisberger shouldn’t be playing in the NFL. Since when does what you do in your personal life matter what you do on your job?
If he raped someone, I hope he gets what he deserves. That’s all I can say about that. However his crimes did not suddenly make his movies any lesser in my eyes. I am still able to watch Rosemary’s Baby and enjoy it. I don’t see why I should ignore some of my favorite films because of something HE did.
man, i was never a fan of Polanski.. i’ve seen Chinatown first and didn’t like it that much(i saw it when i was 17). i didn’t the film noir vibe or how interesting the film was. not until the second viewing which i saw recently. BUT before the Chinatown second viewing, I SAW THE GHOST WRITER! POLANSKI is a master at humorous thriller. i’ve never seen anything like that. tonally, pitch perfect. then i dug a copy of Rosemary’s Baby and completely falls in love with it. he has this kind of sense of humor that is just appealing to me. because he does it in thrillers. I LOVE IT!
Roman Polanski may have issues which repel some people regarding the rape claim, but could there be circumstances in his life which perhaps led him to act in this way? His early years during the war in Poland, the imprisonment of his father and the death of his mother in the concentration camp. His pregnant wife’s horrendous murder and mutilation by the Manson gang. I’m sure I read the young girl in question has since said that she doesn’t want to persue the matter so let’s just enjoy the great movies he makes. I’ll still watch them because they’re so good mainly.
