The trailer for Case 39 has gone online and it’s of that wonderful variety that shows the entire freaking movie. Of course, I suppose there are folks who are happy it’s been shown at all after sitting on the shelf for such a long time. How long? It was originally slated to come out on August 8th, 2008. Now it’s being rushed out into theaters and I’m a little surprised it’s not going directly to DVD.
Case 39 centers on a social worker (Renée Zellweger) who takes in an abused girl. That could make for an uplifting drama. But it turns out that the girl’s parents were cruel to her for a reason: the child—while not evil herself—brings on supernatural horrors to those around her. So the message of the movie is apparently, “Don’t help kids.” Hit the jump to check out the trailer and the official synopsis. Case 39 opens on October 1st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Case 39:
In CASE 39, family services social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) thinks she has seen it all… until she meets 10-year old Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland) and the child’s cruel and dangerous parents. Her worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to harm Lily, their only daughter. Frightened for her life, Emily enlists the help of Detective Mike Barron (Ian McShane) and takes Lily in while she continues the search for the perfect foster family. Just as it seems as though Lily is on her way to a more loving home, under the guidance of Emily and psychiatrist (Bradley Cooper), dark forces surrounding this young girl come to light and, little do they know, their attempts to protect her will only bring on greater horror…

It sucks when you have to wait such a long time for a film to come out. When it happens, is it automatically banned from recieving any rewards? This doesn't sound reward worthy but still…
What?—-I've already seen this movie. Something's wrong
I was thinking the same thing. Apparently it got a UK release first?
Dunno… it was an ok film, but nothing to write home about.
I actually enjoyed this movie…typical kind of thriller/suspense but it was pretty good…I just saw Fragile too, and I loved that one! didn’t suspect the end at all… really well done

seriously? am I the only person who thought that this movie was about ghosts/demons haunting a little girl? If you thought that’s what this movie was about–wrong. I just watched in in theaters and its like they took the trailers and removed every scene from the move then took the plot and threw up on it. Surprise after 30 minutes of “oh this looks like it could be a good movie” the little girl suddenly becomes a demon. After becoming a demon it’s an hour of trying to kill the demon child. This would have been a good movie but I did not get the impression that the movie was about that from the trailers. Someone please tell me i’m not crazy!
cookiesgomeow: why would you spoil the movie for everyone who has not yet seen it???!!!!!!
1) for the simple fact that the tailors are incredibly misleading! If someone had told me what it was REALLY about i wouldn’t have spent my money on it.
2) why read comments talking about the movie and its plot if you don’t want to know anything about the movie?
3) Its been out long enough–especially in the UK it seems–that if they really cared they would have watched it already.
4) those who don’t like what i have to say/didn’t want to read it–guess what? You didn’t have to read it. I know for a fact that I didn’t force your eyes to the screen, let alone force to to continue reading
5) You think you would have taken the hint after “if you thought that’s what the movie was about–wrong” (What’s next? oh i don’t know, could it be an outlook of the movie? Duh)
6) and finally for the honest fact that i wanted to know if i was the only one who felt cheated by the previews.
