The first clip from the new batch of Arrested Development episodes has landed online, and it appears that the relationship between Tony Hale’s Buster and Jessica Walter’s Lucille hasn’t changed a bit.  The clip provides a tiny hint as to what Lucille has been up to since the events of the season three finale, but mainly it just showcases the series’ wonderful sense of humor that’s been sorely missing from our lives for far too long.  Additionally, Netflix has released a new batch of character posters for the new episodes that features the entire cast along with some rather familiar taglines.

Hit the jump to check out the clip and posters, and if you missed the EW covers and new images from yesterday, click here.  Netflix will release all 15 new episodes of Arrested Development at once on May 26th.

Showtime Confirms DEXTER’S Upcoming Eighth Season Will Be Its Last; Watch a Clip from the Final Season

It’s officially official, folks: Dexter has run its course.  While producers of the wildly popular Showtime series had previously stated that they began season seven with the intention that the show would come to an end at the conclusion of season eight, the network had yet to publicly confirm an end date.  Now Showtime has confirmed that the upcoming eighth season of Dexter will in fact be its last.  The Michael C. Hall-fronted series continues to be a ratings draw for the pay cable network, but its quality has been a bit of a roller coaster over the past few seasons.

The first teaser trailer for season eight hinted at the titular character hitting a breaking point this year, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of endgame the producers have in mind given the events that transpired last season.  Yvonne Strahovski, who appeared in a multi-episode arc last year, is confirmed to be returning for this final season, so might Dex get a semi-happy ending after all?  We’ll find out for sure this summer when season eight of Dexter premieres on Sunday, June 30th.  Hit the jump to watch a sneak peek clip from the final season.

Here’s some unfortunate news for fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  It looks like Lucasfilm has plans to wind down the animated series after five successful seasons.  No new episodes will be produced for Cartoon Network, but some story arcs are being developed and will be available elsewhere as bonus material.  Another animated series – Seth Green’s Star Wars: Detours – won’t even get off the ground as the execs have decided to postpone the comedy, which was planned before the new film trilogy was announced.  Hit the jump for the full press release as well as a new clip from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.  Try as I might, I couldn’t find those pesky Dragon Eggs during my review on the Blu-ray, but the deleted scenes are now available thanks to the power of the internet.  Four never-before-scene clips include Ser Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann), Lady Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), as well as Lord Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) and Lord Varys (Conleth Hill), among others.  Hit the jump to watch all four deleted scenes.

Watch SNL’s Quentin Tarantino Parody DJESUS UNCROSSED Starring Christoph Waltz

djesus uncrossed

Quentin Tarantino has teased a third film to complete his Rewritten History trilogy, following up on Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. Last night, Saturday Night Live made a strong pitch for what that film could be with the parody Djesus Uncrossed.  On the third day after his crucificxion, Jesus returns to life, rolls away the stone in front of the tomb, and sets out on a vendetta against the Romans who crucified him.  Or “Row-Maans,” as St. Peter (Taran Killam impersonating Brad Pitt) calls them when he leads the apostles to join in the fight.

It works in large part because I could see Tarantino making a revenge-based version of the Christ story that would be just slightly less wacky.  The production designer gets in a lot of nice stylistic touches in, too, including more blood and gore than I was expecting for a broadcast comedy, even after midnight.  Check it out after the jump.

AMC’s The Walking Dead will return for the second half of its third season this Sunday, February 10th at 9PM ET.  If you can’t wait that long, we have a few new images from the second half of the season and a sneak peek at the upcoming episode.  At the end of the mid-season finale, the conflict between Rick’s group and the Governor’s followers came to a head, while Daryl and Merle were reunited in a most unfortunate way.  It’s safe to say that not everyone will survive this season, but just who gets left behind remains to be seen.

Sneak Peek from COMMUNITY Season 4 Premiere Shows the Dean’s Version of THE HUNGER GAMES

community season 4 alison brie

Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, and Joel McHale introduce the first extended clip from season 4 of Community, and you laugh, because it is three funny men who have learned how to play off each other well over the last few years.  Then they get to the clip, a Hunger Games spoof that thanks to an unfortunate midseason premiere is probably several months past timely.  A scheduling mishap led to overbooking the popular class History of Ice Cream, so the dean leads the students to the extravagant “Hunger Deans” to fight it out for a spot in the class.

It feels sterile (“Hunger Deans” is not funny, right?), but I can’t deny my prejudice about anything new in a post-Dan Harmon Community.  I will try to keep an open mind when Community returns on February 7, because I really am dying to see if one of my favorite shows can still be great, or if the creator’s departure will bury it.  Watch the clip after the break.

Watch the First 5 Minutes of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM

The first five minutes of the FX series American Horror Story: Asylum have gone online and—surprise—they’re all about sex and violence.  For those unaware, AHS is an anthology series, so this second season (titled Asylum) features a brand new setting and cast of characters.  These first five minutes take place in present day and feature Adam Levine and Jenna Dewan Tatum (ie. Channing Tatum’s wife) as a sex-obsessed couple who go snooping around the remains of Briarcliff Manor in order to perform various sexual acts in the haunted locale.  Naturally, things do not go well.

The distractingly frenetic visual style from the show’s pilot is back and some of the dialogue is a bit cringe-worthy, but the mythology of season one was pretty intriguing so I’ll likely be checking out the entirety of Asylum.  Hit the jump to watch the slightly NSFW first five minutes of the show, which also includes the series’ new title sequence.  American Horror Story: Asylum premieres on FX October 17th at 10pm.

We here at Collider are happy to debut a behind-the-scenes featurette for the second season finale of the online sitcom Husbands.  Written and created by Brad Bell and Jane Espenson, the series stars Bell and Sean Hemeon (Criminal Minds) as a tabloid darling and recently outed LA Dodger who spark a media firestorm when they get drunk-married in Las Vegas.  The marriage equality-geared series has broken barriers by becoming the first online series presented by the esteemed Paley Center television institute, and ushers in what is hopefully a more welcoming and inclusive era of series TV.  Ira Glass remarked of Husbands, “You’re peeking at a future of TV, of America.”

The show has been host to a multitude of guest stars like Joss Whedon, Jon Cryer, Felicia Day, Tricia Helfer, John Hodgman and more, and this featurette goes behind the scenes of the show’s season two finale and features interviews with Husbands‘ creators and stars.  Hit the jump to check it out.

Watch A Video Breakdown of GAME OF THRONES Season Two’s Visual Effects

In just under four minutes, VFX studio Pixomondo has highlighted – with gusto – the best special effects from HBO’s second season of Game of Thrones, which (rightfully) recently picked up six awards at the 2012 Emmy Creative Arts Awards.  The reel, which Pixomondo has now made available to fans, is exceptionally impressive, not only because of the quality of the work shown but, frankly, in the actual production of the clip itself.

One of the most impressive elements of the season were Dany’s dragons, and seeing how they were layered up from bone to flesh and movement just goes to prove the lengths the VFX team went to to make them as visceral as possible for their scenes. To view the clip which also features key scenes like the Battle of Blackwater Bay as well as that rather memorable closing scene of the season, hit the jump.

New DOWNTON ABBEY Season 3 Clips Reveal Snappy Dialogue Between Maggie Smith and Shirley MacLaine

Edwardian soap opera Downton Abbey, which will air first on Britain’s ITV next month and then later this year in America on PBS, has added a new character to its third season sure to shake things up — Cora’s (Elizabeth McGovern) mother Martha Levinson, played by Shirley MacLaine.

For those not up on Downton history, Cora married the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) for position while he married her for money.  Though it turned out to be a good match in the end (as they are actually affectionate with one another), there are clearly mixed feelings by the Earl’s mother, Violet, Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) about an American having rescued their estate.  Now, several decades later, with Downton’s fortunes again on the downturn, it seems that Martha is in town for a visit (to pay some bills?) but she’ll be up against Violet’s distain and sharp barbs.  For a preview of their deliciously devilish discourse, hit the jump.
