The first trailer from Randall Miller's CBGB takes viewers on a tour through the disgusting, dangerous and wildly popular New York nightclub that played host to the punk movement's greatest bands.  Alan Rickman (Harry Potter series) leads the picture as struggling club owner  Hilly Kristal, who had a vision of bringing country, bluegrass and blues music to the lower Eastside venue which ultimately became a proving ground for rock-and-roll and punk bands.  Rickman is bolstered by a supporting cast that includes Ashley Greene, Donal Logue, Ryan Hurst and Johnny Galecki.  The real fun of this flick appears to be found in those playing famous musicians and band members, such as Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith, Joel David Moore as Joey Ramone, Kyle Gallner as Lou Reed, and the Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop.  Look for CBGB to land in theaters sometime this fall and hit the jump to watch the trailer.

Official synopsis for CBGB:

CBGB follows the story of Hilly Kristal’s New York club from its origins as Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock ‘n roll and punk. Kristal, a fan of Country and Bluegrass dreamed of having a club in the lower Eastside that catered to that kind of music, when he had difficulty booking those bands he turned to other kinds of rock music. Hilly had one demand of the acts he booked, they could only play their own original music. No top 40′s, no covers. It was the credo he lived by, support the artist at whatever the cost.
