Exclusive: Charlie Day, Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis Talk HORRIBLE BOSSES at CinemaCon

Charlie Day, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis interview HORRIBLE BOSSES at CinemaCon slice

When you put Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live) and Jason Bateman (Teen Wolf Too, Silver Spoons) in a movie together, you automatically have my interest.  When you add Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland and Julie Bowen to the cast of Horrible Bosses, it becomes a must see film.  In the film – which arrives this summer – Bateman, Sudeikis & Day play friends that decide to kill their bosses who are played by Spacey, Farrell & Aniston. With this being a comedy, needless to say, nothing goes according to plan.

I got to see the trailer yesterday at CinemaCon and I also did a set visit last year.  Based on the footage and what I know about the plot, I’m extremely confident that Horrible Bosses is going to be very funny and worth checking out.

Before yesterday’s WB presentation, I got to speak with Bateman, Sudeikis & Day on the red carpet.  Hit the jump to either read or watch the interview.

Have you guys seen the finished film and what are your thoughts on it?

Day: I saw it almost finished but then we added a new scene, so I haven’t seen that. But I thought it was really funny.

Bateman: It’s still good.

Sudeikis: I laughed a lot when I saw it. I saw it with about like 100 people. Because when you do the thing you never get to see the people you’re doing it with, because we do a lot of stuff in cars and standing next to each other and whatnot, so I spent most of my time laughing at these guys.

What I found on set was that there was a lot of improv, a lot of just seeing what’s gonna work, what’s gonna come together. How is it for you as a performer not really knowing how it’s gonna be until you see the edit and they choose that one line you used?

Bateman: Yeah you never really do know, so you try to make all the takes good. You try not to give them any sucky stuff. I think it was in the first week I learned that…don’t be sucky.

Day: Don’t be sucky!

Bateman: Don’t look in the camera, and learn your lines.

The fourth wall can be fun sometimes.

Bateman: Are you hitting on me?

I may be.

Sudeikis: Oooh!

Bateman: We’re now making Ryan (Reynolds) wait. We’ve created lodging.

Yeah you know, that’s not a problem. He has Green Lantern, he’s okay.

Bateman: Thank you Mr. Collider. You’re in my morning loop. Every morning.

This is good times.

Bateman: It’s great times.

For the people that actually don’t know a bit about the film, could you talk about the characters and the film?

Sudeikis: Yeah we’re just three disgruntled employees who wanna off each other’s bosses.

Day: We’re like the three least capable people in the world of committing a murder like that. So it’s pretty funny to watch us stumble through it.

Bateman: Yeah only dummies would think that they could pull if off, so there comes the comedy.

Do you know what they’re showing today?

Bateman: Yeah like an extended trailer. 3 minutes and change.
