The Tree of Life director was considering a number of actresses to star alongside Bale, but it looks like he’s settled on relative newcomer Haley Bennett (The Haunting of Molly Hartley). Variety reports that Bennett has landed the lead female role, but as is expected no plot details are known about the film. The actress was perhaps the least known of the ones vying for the part, as Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, and Clemence Posey (Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter) were all said to have been in the running.Malick, who used to be known for taking his time between projects (it was 20 years between Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line), has been banging them out lately. Tree of Life opened this year, he has another untitled film starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams already in the can and deep into post-production, is said to be working on a documentary entitled Voyage of Time, and now he’s set to shoot this new film next summer.
