Opening today is Martin Scorsese‘s first 3D film, Hugo. Based on Brian Selznick’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the film stars Asa Butterfield as a young boy secretly living in a train station in 1931 Paris. As he attempts to piece together a puzzle that he’d been working on with his father, the results transform not only Hugo, but everyone he comes in contact with. The impressive cast also includes Chloe Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Sir Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Helen McCrory, Richard Griffiths, Frances de la Tour, Emily Mortimer, and Michael Stuhlbarg. You can watch a trailer here.
During my interview with Moretz, she talked about how she got involved in the project and how she fooled Scorsese into thinking she was British, the 3D cameras, karaoke, if she got to keep one of the automatons, and whether she prefers one to two takes or the David Fincher method of quite a few more. In addition, with Moretz just having wrapped on Tim Burton‘s Dark Shadows, she talked about who she plays and what she has coming up next year. Hit the jump to watch.
Finally, if you plan on seeing Hugo, make sure to see it in 3D. It’s definitely one of the best live-action 3D movies I’ve ever seen. Scorsese once again proves he’s a master no matter the dimension. And if you missed them, here’s my video interview with Sir Ben Kingsley and Matt’s review of the film.
Chloe Moretz

KICK-ASS 2!!!
God, yes, please. The storyline in the comic book sequel is finally taking off. I really would love to see Moretz play Hit Girl one more time before she turns 18. (Of course, in the movie sequel, it would probably be a safe bet to assume Hit Girl comes out of retirement while in high school.)
Yeah,Kick-Ass 2 should be released as soon as possible.I really want the entire original cast (no Mark Strong and Nick Cage obviously) to return.
shes like an old, jaded, actress
i would so totally shag her. Love her hello kitty voice. purrrrrrrr
dude, bet it sounds better going into a pillow. juss sayin.
You do realise she is a little kid? Paedo!
lol you must be from /b/?
These interviews are painful to watch. Can you think of a better way to break the ‘ice’ then that lame K question? I mean, is there a need for that really?
I don’t think she’s incredibly talented and when I look at pictures of her she always look like a lolita. It’s gross
