According to The Wrap, J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed) will direct The 5th Wave from a script by Susannah Grant (The Soloist). Here’s the book synopsis:
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up. [Amazon]
Sausage Party follows a sausage who sets out on “a quest to discover the truth about his existence” as he and new friends try to return to their rightful place in the supermarket before the Fourth of July sale. Deadline reports Hayek will voice the character Teresa. Rogen wrote Sausage Party with Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir. Greg Tiernan (Thomas & Friends) and Conrad Vernon (Madagascar 3) will direct for a 2015 release.
Chris Wedge (Ice Age) is directing Monster Trucks, which Paramount Animation hopes will kick off a franchise. Plot details from the script by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, and Derek Connolly are under wraps, but Deadline hears Lennon will take on a “significant” role. Monster Trucks is scheduled for release May 29, 2015.
