Chris-Pratt-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-interview

Now playing around the world is director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.  As most of you know, the story follows five intergalactic misfits—Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper)—as they set out to protect a powerful and mysterious orb from the villainous Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).  For more on the film, read Matt’s review or click here for all our previous coverage.

At the recent Los Angeles press day, I landed an exclusive video interview with Chris Pratt.  He talked about his reaction to everyone loving the film, how no one in the film acts like they’re in a sci-fi movie, if he knew how much he’d have to dance when he was cast, the humor, whether he pays attention to what Marvel announces (like upcoming release dates), what he’d like to see in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Jurassic World, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

Note: This interview was done before Marvel officially announced Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Chris Pratt:

  • None of the characters act like they’re in a sci-fi movie. No one continues to try and explain things to the audience.
  • Did he know how much he’d have to dance when he was cast?
  • Was the script as funny on the page as it is on screen?
  • How much does he pay attention to what Marvel announces, like upcoming release dates?
  • Has he thought about what he’d like to see in the sequel?
  • How has Jurassic World been going?

I admit that I didn’t know Chris Pratt’s work before I watched GOTG and his performance as Peter Quill, and I have to say: I loved this guy!!!

He’s fucking hilarious in parks and rec.I highly recommend that show to everyone. Its hard to say he’s the funniest on the show because everyone is top notch, but he is up there.

      • CJ

Yes, he is very, very funny on that show.

Although I think they rely far too much on him looking at the camera to emphasise a joke.

      • Jack Dennis

both him and april do that but its all a part of there charm.

It’s hard to not be optimistic about Jurassic Park after hearing Pratt talk so highly of it, even though he’s in the movie.

even if is a piece of sh!t, I know I’ll love Jurassic World, I mean, I’ve been waiting 13 years for another jurassic movie so I will not care if is a crap, just show me some dinos and the rest can be forgotten

ahh, this guy is exhibiting Jennifer Lawrence levels of likability. If those two ever do a movie together it might cause a cuteness rift in time and space.

      OOf.

IMO, please keep away Lawrence from Pratt, I mean, I don’t belive anything she does and Pratt is naturally funny and she’s not.

Did he day “thanks Ben” at the end?

    • Nicolas

I think he said “Man” instead of “Ben”…

  • brNdon

I like how Steve was the one who had to leave.

    • Norrtron

Yeah because it’s a press junket, the actors give interview after interview to a rotating group of journalists.

    • Raptor Jesus

He always makes the interview about him. Always. Jerk.

Guys, don’t you think Chris Pratt can be the perfect replacement for Harrison Ford like Indiana Jones, I saw GOTG and I loved it he has the same kinda dark humor perfect for Indy…just saying

    • lord jim

ford was much more mature when he did raiders.besides, ford created that character, so he shouldn´t be replaced, pratt should find a new one.

    • RunnerX13

Don’t see it at all. Indie isn’t a comedic character.

    • mattinacan

i would love him to take over indiana jones

    • Falco

Too cheap and easy of a comparison. Starlord is somewhat like Solo/Indy already. The comparison is implied, but Starlord is so far and beyond a stand-alone, unique, bad-ass, unforgettable character.
