For Chris Tucker, one of the most unexpected aspects of shooting a movie in 120 frames per second was the shaving. The actor stars as a Hollywood type in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and because the higher resolution captures pretty much everything, he had to shave every five hours to keep the 5 o’clock shadow from ruining the shot.

Tucker discussed that and more during our interview at the press day for the film in New York City. He first approached the film as a means of honoring soldiers in the military, but he also wanted to be a part of this project with director Ang Lee, saying he knew he was doing something special with this new technology.

“They had 3D glasses behind the cameras [on set] and if you wanted to go check out your performance, you’d go back and see it without or on,” Tucker explained of the playback — that, too, was in a higher resolution. “I used to put them on and it was just — you’d be right out there.”

Tucker features in Billy Lynn, based on the novel by Ben Fountain, along with newcomer Joe Alwyn, Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel, and Steve Martin. The film opens in limited release on November 11th and wide in traditional formatting on November 18th.

In addition to this film, our conversation with Tucker ended with a little Rush Hour 4 talk. There have been rumors for quite some time about bringing the actor back together with Jackie Chan for one of those nostalgia-laced sequels that are so popular right now. When asked if there’s any hope, he said, “Yeah, we’re talking about it now doing another one, and we’re trying to get it going. I think we might be able to get one going.” He added, “I love working with Jackie and I think we could do a really fun one.”
