Though Christopher Nolan normally only produces projects that he intends to direct himself, he recently made an exception with the Superman reboot Man of Steel. David S. Goyer came up with an original idea for a new Superman movie, and Nolan decided to shepherd that vision and produce the new film, eventually choosing Zack Snyder as director. Now Nolan is working behind the scenes on another film he won't be directing, as Deadline reports that he has tapped Keith Gordon (The Singing Detective) to write and direct a supernatural thriller for Warner Bros.

Nolan and partner Emma Thomas will act as executive producers on the project, which the report says is based on a novel (though Deadline isn’t sure what book exactly). Gordon started his career as an actor, landing the lead role in the 1983 horror film Christine. He made his directorial debut with 1988’s The Chocolate War, and has been doing some fine work in television lately, helming episodes of Dexter, The Killing and Rubicon.
