Christopher Nolan Says INCEPTION Is Even Bigger Than THE DARK KNIGHT

While it’s hard to decipher the trailer for Inception, it’s easy to tell that there’s a lot going on. That’s an accurate sell of the film as Christopher Nolan tells Hero Complex:
“This is the biggest challenge I’ve taken on to this point. We’re trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I’ve ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with ‘The Dark Knight’ and with this one we wanted to push that even further.”
He mentions in the article that it’s an enigmatic thriller, a story of madness and lost love, and a metaphysical heist movie all rolled into one. He says he’s made a movie that’s expansive, “in four dimensions.” Ironically, wife/career partner/producer Emma Thomas says that Inception is intended to be a more personal movie…it just happens to be enormous. What doesn’t make sense is that, as you read above, Nolan says he wanted to push Inception beyond the scale of The Dark Knight. Am I the only one who’s getting a little worried that Nolan, left to his own devices, is biting off more than he can chew?
Inception hits theaters in all dimensions on July 16th.

I can't wait to check this movie out. It looks like it will be good and its directed by Nolan who has shown he can make a good movie. Wonder if this one will dethrone Avatar.
I have complete faith in Nolan and his ability to make a massive movie yet still tell a great story. I cannot wait to see his next masterpiece. No offense Matt, but you should be ashamed to question the filming making intuition of Nolan, it's not like he is Michael Bay… LOL.
I think what Nolan means is that “The Dark Knight” had this very complex like story with layers on top of layers, yet it was a simple blockbuster movie. So I think he is just trying to illustrate that with this movie but adding more layers. I think left to his own devices he will deliver yet another movie that makes him the true successor to Hitchcock's Suspense crown.
I don't believe he will dethrone Avatar, but since Nolan's my favorite I hope he does..
It's not exactly a small statement to say he want's push this further then TDK, that's huge..
I can't wait to check this out.
“Am I the only one who’s getting a little worried that Nolan, left to his own devices, is biting off more than he can chew?” — so far, yes ;·)
yea
“Am I the only one who’s getting a little worried that Nolan, left to his own devices, is biting off more than he can chew?”
Yes. Haha. But seriously, I am in no way worried. Nolan is an amazing director and I am eagerly looking forward to this movie even though I hardly know anything about it.
This is the first time I've ever commented on this site btw. Just got here from an IMDb link.
You're definitely the only one worried about that. The man has yet to make a bad film and some of them have been flat out incredible. Great cast too.
Lets hope hes not taking more than he can chew. This is Joseph-Gordon Levitt's big chance to finally be a huge star. I've been rooting for Levitt for a decade now and (500) Days of Summer finally proved he has what it takes to carry an amazing movie. I can't wait to see this movie, and unless it gets terrible reviews I'm definitely going to see it first day in theaters. Lets hope for another amazing movie by Nolan!
Matt, as others have said, I really think you are the only one who is worried. I am not. I worship at the Nolan altar. The Prestige and Memento are two of my favorite films, ever. TDK was pretty good too.
Here goes matt again. Just like he did with Avatar.
You must admit though, it is better to be cautious rather than to over-exert yourself and say that the movie without-a-doubt will be the best-thing-ever-omg-srzly. The movie as far as history shows us could either be a big flop or a big hit (if based on all directors pasts), if your making an argument based on Christopher Nolan's past or on James Cameron's past then I'd say it is weak to argue that it will flop.
Still a lot of big-time directors have made huge hits and then followed them up with crap-tastic movies, so you can never be to safe to suggest the possibility. Nothing about the movie looks bad though so far.
Why did I watch this movie? To observe the performance of the late Heath Ledger. It was not a disappointment but, like other reviewers, I think it was not one in a league with, say, John Huston in “Chinatown” or Bogart in “The Treasure of Sierra Madre”.
