Reboot culture has hit Nickelodeon, and it appears we’re going to see more beloved 90s Nick programming revived for the modern era. THR reports that a Clarissa Explains It All reboot is currently in development at the network, with Melissa Joan Hart poised to reprise her role as the titular character. This time around she’d play the mother of the family, much like the Boy Meets World revival Girl Meets World saw Cory and Topanga taking on the parental roles. Side note: Does anyone else feel incredibly old right now?

Discussions are in the very early stages so there’s no guarantee this Clarissa Explains It All reboot will actually happen, but series creator Mitchell Kriegman is in talks to return to write and executive produce, with Hart also potentially serving as an executive producer through her Hartbreak Films banner.

Clarissa ran for five seasons on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1994 and was a cornerstone of the network’s live scripted programming in the 90s, which also included classics like Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts. Could reboots of those series be on the way as well? Anything’s possible, but one imagines the network might want to see how Clarissa does first before greenlighting a sea of revivals.

Disney Channel was kind of the first to tap into this 90s kids shows nostalgia with Girl Meets World, which similarly brought back the original show’s creator and many of its stars. The series ran for three seasons but was cancelled in 2017, with no other networks willing to pick up the show. Conversely, Netflix’s Full House reboot Fuller House has (apparently) been a huge hit, currently entering its fourth season on the streaming service. Nostalgia is not easy science, folks.

Meanwhile, as Hart potentially readies a return to the role that first made her a star, Netflix is reviving the Sabrina the Teenage Witch moniker, albeit in a very different iteration. Hart lead the ABC iteration of the comics adaptation, which was basically a sitcom, but Netflix’s version is spearheaded by the same team behind CW’s Riverdale and will lean heavily on the supernatural.

So stay tuned for more news on the Clarissa Explains It All reboot. What other 90s Nick shows would you like to see revived?
