First Trailer and Poster for WRATH OF THE TITANS [Updated With New Posters]

     December 19, 2011

The first trailer for Wrath of the Titans has gone online.  I was disappointed by Clash of the Titans, but the trailer has somewhat restored my interest in the sequel.  Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles) has taken the reigns from Louis Leterrier and obviously the action scenes are bigger because that’s what sequels do.  But I was taken with the imaginative design for the sets and the creatures.  Presumably the 3D will be much better this time around since it’s not a post-converstion.  But the larger question remains: Is the script any better?  Here’s hoping. [Correction: It is a post-conversion. I was under the impression the filmmakers didn't want to do something so blatantly stupid.]

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and poster.  The film stars Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramiez, Bill Nighy, Toby Kebbell, and Rosamund PikeWrath of the Titans opens March 30, 2012. [Update: A couple of crazy banners a new image have been released, which are now included after the jump.]

Here’s the official synopsis for Wrath of the Titans:

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramirez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon’s demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

  • Justin Kemp

It looks a lot better than the first but I think the music sucks hard for this type of trailer’ let alone this genre. Rock music with this type of genre DOES NOT MIX.

    • terry

The music did suck. They needed an aria IMHO.

  • Avidreader

still won’t be half as good as IMMORTALS. That was the most underappriecated film of the year. But I love sword and sandal, so bring it! This, THE HOBBIT, and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES! Can not wait.

  • henrieta

you do know matt that collider had a interview with liebesman back in march where he explained in details why is this not filming in 3d and all that. if you dont remember that just ask your boss steve frosty

  • Casey

This looks good, but so did the last one. So I’m not getting my hopes up.

  • Sal

OMG when I thought it couldn’t get any worse…
By the way Immortals was so bad, it made me consider Clash an actual movie.

  • Jim Kreskin

Come on, Liam, you are better than this. Go back to making serious films and only doing a blockbuster now and then like you used to. You too, Ralph! Anywho, this looks fun, stupid, but fun. The effects look nice, but where’s the story? Anyway, I’ll wait until this one is on cable.

  • Edward Lee

I’m hearing buzz that the next installment is to be called DANCE WITH THE TITANS, hoping to capitalize on the current ballroom dance craze.

    • Louis

they should turn every movie into a dance movie. Jurassic Park, Aliens, Terminator, Star Trek, Star Wars…

  • Sara

I like it. But am I the only one who thinks Andromeda miscast?

  • tarek

    The first one was awful.

This one looks incredibly exciting. I like Sam Worthington.

I walked into Clash with lowered expectations so I guess that’s why I liked it so much, so I’ll be seeing this one as well but… where is Io?

    • Tarek

      Hypérion is milking her.

  • Wladi

That minotaur in the poster is an exact copy of the devil villan from the movie Legend…

  • Charlie

UNLEASH THE HORDE OF ILL-INFORMED MOVIEGOERS WHO WILL PAY EXTRA TO SEE THIS POST-CONVERTED CRAP!…seriously, though, just like Transformers, this is filmmaking as much as selling a bag of skittles is cooking. Everything about this trailer screams teenagers come give me your parent’s money

  • Wes

I don’t get why people hate the first one so much, it wasn’t exactly high art (like that godawful ‘Immortals’), but it was fun.
