We're still a good six to eight months away from Doctor Who returning with the latest season featuring Peter Capaldi but that's not stopping BBC for dropping a lot of Doctor Who news today. Earlier today, the network debuted its first look at this year's superhero-featuring Doctor Who Christmas Special, a tradition as beloved in its way as Treehouse of Horror episodes of The Simpsons. The very thought of having Capaldi's Doctor attempting to suffer the jabberings of a superhero is already making me dizzy with delight.

And now, we have our first full trailer for Class, the Doctor Who spin-off that takes place in the infamous Coal Hill Academy, a place of great importance to dedicated Doctor Who fans. It's already been confirmed that Capaldi's Doctor will appear in the pilot for the series in some sense, but it's unlikely he will show up after this first appearance. That being said, this sounds like one of those situations where he'll show up for one episode per season if the show takes off. We'll have to wait and see, but having Capaldi yell at a bunch of teenagers is nearly as promising as having him yell at a superhero. You can watch the trailer right below.

Class arrives on BBC starting October 22nd and premieres on BBC America Spring 2017.

Here's the first trailer for Class:

Here's the official synopsis for the Class pilot:

It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack from the monstrous Shadow Kin, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them.   Charlie, April, Ram and Tanya, assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill, are now charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as ‘The Doctor’: to guard against the creatures of nightmare, who want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.

And this incursion is only the beginning…
