In Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Swallow Falls is under attack by mutant foods known as “foodimals”.  The audience will be under attack by the many puns, and not even the marketing is safe.  Sony Pictures Animation has released six character posters for the film, and each features puns such as “Run for Your Chives” and “Fruit Loose”.  Normally, these kinds of taglines would be lame, but since they actually represent the comedy featured in the film, I can get on board.  If you’re going to embrace puns, take it all the way.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film features the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, James Caan, Benjamin Bratt, and Terry CrewsCloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 opens in 3D on September 27th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2:

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s mouth-watering comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his most infamous invention — a machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes. But Flint soon learns that his invention survived and is now creating food-animals – “foodimals!”  Flint and his friends embark on a dangerously delicious mission to battle hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheespiders and other foodimals to save the world – again!
