After Wednesday’s announcement that Star Wars: Episode VIII was moving from May 2017 to December 2017. One of most asked questions was how Episode VIII would affect and be affected by Avatar 2’s box office which was set to be released around the same time. Now it looks like we won’t get an answer to that question as Fox has delayed the premiere of Avatar 2 and it no longer will come out in December 2017. No new release date has been announced.

Looks like Universal’s shared monster cinematic universe will be leading off with a new The Mummy movie starring Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella. The film is set to arrive in theaters on June 9th 2017, which was shifted from its original March 24th premiere. Early reports are suggesting that Cruise will be playing an ex-Navy Seal while Boutella will be playing the Mummy.

Last month there were reports that Marvel was in talks with Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett to play an unspecified role in the third movie of the Thor franchise, Thor: Ragnarok. Rumor has it that Cate Blanchett will be playing the villainous character of Hela. For those of you unfamiliar with Hela, she is the ruler of Hel, the realm reserved for the dead.

In other Marvel casting news, Doctor Strange has cast Benedict Wong who most recently played Jet Propulsion Laboratory director Bruce Ng in The Martian, as Doctor Strange’s sidekick Wong. The character of Wong (not to be confused with the actor Benedict Wong) comes from a family of monks, is a martial arts master and has great knowledge of the dark arts. Doctor Strange is being directed by Scott Derrickson and hits theaters on November 4th.

Yuhan Houth writes: Happy Australia Day Collider! (for the 26th anyway) To celebrate, just wanted to ask who your favorite Australians in the film industry are, in front of the camera, behind the camera or even Australian films you may have enjoyed. Thanks and enjoy a communal Bloomin’ onion with a few shrimps on the barbie…

Junior Murillo writes: Hi, guys! Big fan of the show here. I was wondering, given the huge love of James Cameron for the underwater world, how great would a Cameron’s take on an Aquaman movie be? We already know that the first Aquaman film will be directed by Zack Snyder. But, what about a sequel in 2022 or 2023, after the Avatar trilogy? Do you think he would take it? Thank you guys and keep up the great work.
