As most of you know, Channing Tatum is coming to the big screen in October 2016, but he’ll have to do it without his director Rupert Wyatt. Wyatt, who directed such films as Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and The Gambler came on the project back in June, but according to a report in Variety, a script change caused the budget to escalate and increase the shooting time required for the film. Then, the start of production was pushed back from this November to early 2016 which prompted Wyatt to say the following: “I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”
As most of you will remember it was recently announced that Legendary Pictures was taking its long gestating Kong: Skull Island project from Universal Studios, who decided to drop out of the project, to Warner Bros. The speculation was that the move would open up the possibility of a Kong vs Godzilla movie down the line. Now The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the script for the new Kong movie does indeed contain references to the organization known as Monarch. Some of you will remember that Monarch is the organization that Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins belonged to in the recent Godzilla movie. Sources also told THR that “Legendary is confident it can come up with a rationale to explain how Kong and Godzilla can do battle — and possibly become allies.” [caption id="attachment_264353" align="alignright" width="360"]

Speaking of Legendary and Universal, reports have emerged that the planned sequel to Pacific Rim has been put on indefinite hold with no active plans to go into production. The original Pacific Rim film make just over $410 million at the worldwide box office, but carried a budget of nearly $200 million making the margins very small, and the film would have lost the company a lot of money were it not for a late strong showing in the Chinese market.

A brand new trailer for the upcoming Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks film Bridge of Spies has hit the web. Set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. The film hits theatres on October 16th.
A brand new trailer for the upcoming Ron Howard film In The Heart Of The Sea has just hit the web. Set in the winter of 1820, In the Heart of the Sea follows the New England whaling ship Essex as it is assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down. It has been announced that the upcoming Olympus Has Fallen sequel, London Has Fallen has now moved its scheduled release date of January 22, 2016 to March 4, 2016. The story begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the western world. However, what starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate every known landmark in the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable Secret Service head, and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.
According to a report in Deadline, Universal Pictures is developing a new version of the classic Christmas Carol story in the form of Humbug. The report claims that the film will star Ice Cube as the Ebeneezer Scrooge character who, in this rendition of the story, is a successful real estate mogul. Staying true to the original story, Scrooge is then shown the error of his ways after visits from three different ghosts. First up is the new sequel Maze Runner: Scorched Trials. Transported to a remote fortified outpost, Thomas and his fellow teenage Gladers find themselves in trouble after uncovering a diabolical plot from the mysterious and powerful organization WCKD. With help from a new ally, the Gladers stage a daring escape into the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with dangerous obstacles and crawling with the virus-infected Cranks. The Gladers only hope may be to find the Right Hand, a group of resistance fighters who can help them battle WCKD.
Also opening this week is the new film Everest. On the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers from two expeditions start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds.
