The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 20 film that are in the running for the Best Visual Effects Oscar at the upcoming 88th Academy Awards. The Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee determined the preliminary shortlist which has a maximum of 20 films which must then later be narrowed down to 10 before the final list of nominees are announced. The list of 20 films that made the first cut are:

As most of you know the newest Star Trek film, Star Trek: Beyond, is set to hit theatres on July 22nd and now we know when we’ll get our first look at the new film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first trailer for Star Trek will debut in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18th. Along with Trek, the report also suggests the other trailers included with The Force Awakens will be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Independence Day Resurgence and X-Men: Apocalypse with possible Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book additions.BUY OR SELL
A brand new trailer for the upcoming Natalie Portman western Jane Got Gun has just hit the web. Jane Got a Gun centers on Jane Hammond (played by Natalie Portman), who has built a new life with her husband, Ham, after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin (played by Ewan McGregor). With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost (played by Joel Edgerton) for help in defending her family against certain destruction.
Ever since Daredevil first aired on Nexflix, many fans have wondered if we’ll see him, along with the other Marvel heroes on Netflix, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the Infinity War films come to screen. Some say yes, other say no. Now, one of the Infinity War directors, Anthony Russo, makes it sound like we shouldn’t hold our breath. He said the following: “It’s complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel’s most popular characters, as does Sony and others.”
