It’s Monday which means it’s time for our weekend box office report brought to you by our friends at AMC Theatres. It was an incredibly tight race as only three million dollars separated first place from fourth place. Coming in at #1 for the third week in a row is the final installment of the Hunger Games franchise The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 making $18.6 million. In second place is the new holiday horror film Krampus making $16 million dollars. Coming in third is latest Rocky film Creed taking in $15.54 million. Dropping down to the #4 spot is Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur with $15.51 million… and rounding out the Top 5 is the James Bond film Spectre, bringing in $5.4 million, bringing its worldwide total up to almost $800 million dollars.
Over the last few days the three major film critic groups from Los Angeles, New York and Boston, all gave out their annual film awards, and they all had one thing in common: all three groups gave their Best Picture of the year award to the same film - Spotlight. In 2001, editor Marty Baron of The Boston Globe assigns a team of journalists to investigate allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys. Led by editor Walter "Robby" Robinson, a team of reporters interview victims and try to unseal sensitive documents. The reporters make it their mission to provide proof of a cover-up of sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church. The film stars Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, and Liev Schreiber.

According to reports, Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler is currently in talks with Marvel studios to potentially direct their upcoming standalone Black Panther movie. As most of you will remember Selma director Ava DuVernay was previously in talks for the film but eventually turned the project down.
The first official trailer for the upcoming Shane Black film The Nice Guys hit the web a few days ago. In 1970s Los Angeles, a down-on-his-luck private eye, played by Ryan Gosling, and a tough enforcer, played by Russell Crowe, investigate the disappearance of a girl and the death of a porn star. The Nice Guys is scheduled for release on May 20th. Black previous directed such films as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3.
As movie-going audiences we’ve become accustomed to some sort of mid or end-credits scene with most big blockbuster films. However, at a media event this weekend, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams claimed that the new movie will not have any such extra scene, and that the credits will just be the credits. Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially hits theatres on December 18th.
Well speaking of Star Wars, one of the characters that hasn’t been getting a lot of love in the marketing campaign is that of Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. Apparently looking to rectify that situation, LucasFilm has released this Poe Dameron character poster for the new film.

Brett Garrison writes: Hey guys! Wasn't the Ben-Hur remake supposed to come out in February? There hasn't been any type of marketing for this film. I don't even remember the studio announcing that it began shooting. Do you think this means the movie is in trouble? At this point, I'd imagine that a delay is inevitable. Thoughts?
