THE COLLISION: Episode 52 – Westerns and THE LONE RANGER

     July 7, 2013

This week on The Collision, we take advantage of the rare opportunity to talk about westerns.  We discuss why westerns are so rare, extoll the virtues of the genre, criticize Hollywood for forcing the genre into a blockbuster mold, the possibility of a resurgence for the genre, and how that resurgence might come about.  We also trash The Lone Ranger (there are minor spoilers).  As always, we finish up with our recommendations.

Matt, you guys have talked recently about how current trailers giveaway so much of the plot, well the trailer you picked to showcase your recommendation not only gives the plot away, but spells it out for the audience. With me saying that, isn’t it Ironic that marking campaigns never changed or learned anything, about how to market a movie; and keep in mind this movie was made before the movie industry was sold to the larger corporations.
Final words: Dave thanks for recommending The Toxic Avenger, and everyone should please try to avoid Grown ups 2, as much as possible. Please see any movie, but Grown ups 2.
