USA's sci-fi drama series Colony deals with the fallout after a military force -- the Colony Transitional Authority--  takes control in a dystopian future Earth. The force is run by the "Hosts," who wall-in Los Angeles and other cities (now called "Blocs") that are still reeling from the war that began with the Hosts' arrival. The occupiers appear in human form, and work with a group of collaborators to try and control the population, which has also formed a resistance movement against the brutal military dictatorship.

With its fifth episode premiering tonight, Colony is nearly halfway through its first season, and there's still plenty to explore within its world. In her review of the pilot episode from last year's New York Comic Con, Perri Nemiroff said the series "doesn't feel like an alien invasion show," and that it "introduces one of the most powerful dilemmas" in examining the morals behind betraying your cause to save your loved ones.

We now have the exclusive opportunity to share some of the artwork that the series has commissioned in order to really drive home that theme and more. The (incredibly cool and detailed) in-world posters, which will be featured on the upcoming episode "Geronimo," come from both the Occupation and the Resistance, and were created by hugely talented artists GODMACHINE, Ken Taylor, Phantom City Creative, Jock, and Todd Slater.

Ryan Condal, the show's co-creator and EP (alongside Carlton Cuse), explains the importance of these kinds of posters,

"Propaganda -- on both sides of the conflict -- is a critical feature of all occupations and fascist governments. For the authority, it's a way to appease and control. For the resistance, it's one of the most effective weapons they have in their arsenal. We were very lucky to have partnered with such well-known, well-regarded artists in order to bring the world of propaganda alive in COLONY."

Jock, the artist who made the Geronimo posters, added

“We talked a lot about iconic imagery and coming up with something that would read instantly - the plan was to ‘flypost' the set with posters as background elements. The producers had seen my work on DC/Vertigo’s SCALPED and wanted some of that Native American flavour… something with a rich history to represent the resistance fight against the hosts. We landed on this simple silhouette and I ended up working in a number of different colorways to give variation to the same theme.”

Colony airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. on USA. Here's the latest episode snopsis, along with the full gallery of posters:
