If you’re planning on grabbing some autographs from your favorite stars of shows like Game of Thrones, True Blood, Fringe, or Green Lantern: The Animated Series, then this article is of particular interest to you. Warner Bros. will be following the official Comic-Con ticket distribution system for autographs this year. This automated system consists of randomized drawings that determine which attendees are granted autographs. Safety is Warner Bros.’ main concern, and this system ensures that there won’t be a mobfight over who gets to meet Sookie. Hit the jump for more info, including the schedules for each drawing and signing.

comic-con-warner-bros-wristband-imageHere’s how it works: if you want the chance to get autographs from one of the events listed below you’ll attend a drawing at the Sails Pavilion at your appointed time. Once you arrive, you’ll be given a ticket. If during the randomized drawing, the number that appears on your ticket is called, you’re given a wristband that grants you access to the appointed autograph signing.

Here’s the press release:

WARNER BROS. TO FOLLOW COMIC-CON AUTOGRAPH TICKET SYSTEM

BURBANK, Calif. (July 8, 2011) — Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Entertainment are announcing today that Warner Bros. will follow the official Comic-Con International: San Diego ticket distribution system for autograph signings at this year’s event.

As in years past, all signings will be held at the Warner Bros. booth, which is #4545 on the Comic-Con show floor.  But under the long-standing Comic-Con system, Warner Bros. will distribute wristbands for signings via daily ticket drawings held at Sails Pavilion #9 inside the San Diego Convention Center.

“Safety is always our main concern with signings or events, so it is Comic-Con policy that access is regulated by a drawing for a chance to win — giving all attendees an equal opportunity to enter,” said David Glanzer, director of marketing and public relations for Comic-Con International.  “We are happy that Warner Bros. has agreed to utilize this system and thank them for once again offering such unique opportunities to our attendees this year, as well as their continued support of Comic-Con.”

Fans interested in attending signings at the Warner Bros. booth should review the schedule listed below, then plan to visit the Sails Pavilion at the time of each drawing.  All fans present at the appointed time will receive numbered tickets that feature a distinct sticker. Then a randomized drawing will determine which fans receive wristbands granting access to each autograph line.

See below for the current schedule of ticket distribution and signing start times.

  1. A poor strategy. I sadly can’t afford to go this year, but if I could I know I’d be in trouble. First off, what if I’m with a friend or relative and we both want to try and get into an autograph line?

Second, this one here would kill my choices:

    Alcatraz
    Ticket Distribution (Sails Pavilion #9): 12:00 p.m.
Autograph Signing (Warner Bros. Booth, #4545): 2:30 p.m.

    Person of Interest
    Ticket Distribution (Sails Pavilion #9): 1:00 p.m.
Autograph Signing (Warner Bros. Booth, #4545): 3:15 p.m.

    Fringe
    Ticket Distribution (Sails Pavilion #9): 3:00 p.m.
Autograph Signing (Warner Bros. Booth, #4545): 5:15 p.m.

So if I happened to win a Person of Interest ticket, I couldn’t get myself into the lottery for Fringe.

They should draw at the same time in the morning for all shows, and you have the option for one guest or something.

I know why they’re doing this though. WB security was a NIGHTMARE last year. They had TV shows, Green Lantern and more all blowing through every 45 minutes all day Saturday. Poor Tom Felton of Harry Potter was shoved in a corner near Abin Sur’s coffin just so the Green Lantern people could have the table, sandwiched somewhere in between Vampire Diaries, Chuck, and Sucker Punch.

The lines were not even that. I made it into Human Target and Chuck that day but they wouldn’t let me race back to get in the V line which was right back around the corner because ‘traffic doesn’t move that way right now’. By the time I got back to try and get into ‘Human Target’ there were over 100 people all fighting for spots in line to Fringe, Target, and Vampire Diaries. Fringe wasn’t even for 3 hours or more. I wouldn’t have made it that long, even if I hadn’t just had ankle surgery. And I’m young.

WB security just randomly picked the closest people for a line and let them in while people way down the row who thought they were in an orderly line were left twisting in the wind realizing that they’d wasted hours.

FOX did it right. For all cast screenings you showed up early in the day and they would grant you passed printed on basic paper. First come, first serve, with maybe a few more given out a couple hours later. If you said you had a friend or somebody with you, they would probably give you one.

I know I told my father he should go with me in 2012 and meet celebs in these lines but this method of random chance where only one of us might get in without the other sucks. Do all their drawings at 9 AM and call it a day. Then it doesn’t interfere with plans through the day to go pack to the pavillion for a damn raffle

    • What majorly sucks about this is,that on Thursday badge pick up starts at 8:30am…yet they have several MAJOR raffles for autpgraph signings that start at 9:00am. There stands a good chance that a lot of folks won’t be able to attend those panels/autograph signings, due to still being in badge pick-up lines (two different lines if you bought several single day badges).

  2. WB also scheduled things too close together and no place to put multiple lines. This caused traffic jams and also caused security to be anal retentive about how much time people talked to a celeb and ‘only one item being signed’ and ‘no photos’! Chi McBride actually layed into a guard for all that. He said ‘Look man, this girl over here (pointed to the girl next to me) took all this time and effort to dress up like Jackie Earl Haley here and she looks perfect! Now you and me both wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all these people, so chill out and let her get a picture!

I know if I were in the Alcatraz line, I might snap if not allowed a quick chance to lean across a desk and take a photo with Sam Neill. It takes 10 seconds at best. Not a big deal. Everybody’s having fun.

  3. I absolutely HATED being at the Warner Bros. booth last year. It was absolute madness! Wouldn’t be surprised if it happens to be the same again this year…

  4. Interesting. Usually for drawings you reach into a black bag full of tickets and if you pull one out with a stamp on it you get a wristband.

I don’t like drawings that you have to hope your number gets called, at least with the other way you can kind of control your fate a little more.
