Though the rumors have been swirling ever since James Gunn let the news slip last year, we can confirm that Marvel will definitely not be having a Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios usually has one of the convention’s showcase panels every year, marking its territory as the last panel on Saturday to cap off the film-centric panels in the massive Hall H. This is where they brought out the entire cast of The Avengers for the first time, including the freshly signed Mark Ruffalo. It’s also where Tom Hiddleston came out on stage in character as Loki and milked the crowd's enthusiasm for all it was worth. And this is where Marvel surprised audiences by announcing the title of Avengers: Age of Ultron—and thus the Ultron storyline—with a teaser video that played just as they left the stage.

But last year’s Marvel Hall H panel was a pretty big disappointment. It was clear that they intended to announce Joaquin Phoenix as Doctor Strange and/or the title of Captain America 3, or even unveil its full Phase Three slate, but contracts appeared to be held up and the information wasn’t solidified in time. Instead, the studio didn’t really make any big announcements at all.

This year, Marvel is opting to skip the event entirely. This isn’t the first time this has happened, as they did the same thing in 2011. It’s possible they’re holding all their Captain America: Civil War stuff for D23, or Kevin Feige simply thinks they don’t have enough “good stuff” to warrant a Hall H panel.

So what will the big Hall H panels be this year? Warner Bros. will undoubtedly be there, as they are every year, and they’ll be showcasing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and possibly even more DC movie stuff. Fox also has a lot in the pipeline, and last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past panel was a Comic-Con highlight so they could try and top that with X-Men: Apocalypse.

We’ll know for sure in the coming weeks, when SDCC starts announcing its full lineups. So stay tuned, folks.
