Movie panels in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2010 came to a close with Marvel assembling the entire lead cast of The Avengers together on the stage with director Joss Whedon, including the official announcement of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Hit the jump to read the full rundown.
UPDATED: Watch video of the cast coming out on stage!
First was the Captain America: The First Avenger panel, then Thor, then Kevin Feige stayed on stage and the lights went out. We got a teaser trailer, which was just the classic “A” logo slowing fading in from black with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) talking about a team of heroes assembling. Jackson then came out to a huge applause. First he announced his right hand man, Agent Colston, played by Clark Gregg. Next was his right hand woman, Black Widow, played by Scarlet Johanssen. Then the God of Thunder, Thor – Chris Hemsworth. Captain America, played by Chris Evans. And even Robert Downey Jr., aka Tony Stark. All together, on the stage… together. Awesome. But it got better.
Downey got on the mike and asked if everyone had seen Inception. He said, he thought that was one of the most ambitious films he had ever seen… until he realized that Marvel was going to make a movie with every! single! superhero! they! had! The Avengers was the most ambitious movie ever, he said.
Then Downey brought out Jeremy Renner, who will play Hawkeye, and officially announced Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, the Hulk.
Finally, director Joss Whedon was announced and said “I had a dream all my life and it was not this good.” He joked that he was going to blow it.
The energy in the room for the entire event, which lasted only a few minutes after the hour long finale panel, was electric and near indescribable. The flash bulbs were popping, the digital cameras prevalent. Madness. If there’s a video, you have to find it. Jon Favreau threw down the gauntlet with his Cowboys & Aliens footage, but Marvel won Comic Con.
The Avengers hits theaters May 4, 2012.

Fucking Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no Jack Swagger for THE AVENGERS
Awesome, must have been a sight to see.
You confuse me; he's a wrestler, why would he be in a movie?
No Don Cheadle? I thought he was signed to star in 9 Marvel movies including the Avengers
?
show this to someone who doesn't know anything about the movie(s) and they'll guess which ones are the director and the producer in no time!
perhaps he's busy somewhere else, you know — shooting a movie? they should've used a Howard cutout
(Homer Simpson voice)Mmmmm…..Scarlet Johanssen. Nom….nom…..nom!!!
Your confusing Don with Jackson, he signed a 9 movie contract; his character is the only one who can go between the different franchises. IT would make no sense for War Machine to be in all the Marvel movies lol.
This is pretty epic. I do hope that Joss does a good job, I'm confident he will but I just hope the movie makes good money so that Joss gets some credit for once from the mainstream, he gets short-handed a lot.
I would have had John Cena as Captain America!
Who is the 10th guy? 6 Avengers, 2 Shield agents and the director. Mystery 10th person is…..?
I think that's Kevin Feige, the producer.
man i´m nervous about joss whedon directing did anyone at marvel saw firefly fx? this is not buffy!
oh pls no more superheroes…. american superheroes are so stupid. well, since Whedon is directing they will probably go bust, i really hope this will flop, so no more superheroes movies will be made for sometime
marvel didnt win cocmic con we demand the deathly hallows footage
Ummmm, what happened to don cheadle and who will play antman??? I'm still disappointed that norton and Terrance Howard aren't back….
Fuckin A…… cant wait
WTF?! LOLZ!
with such talented cast and crew (and they even had the luxury of letting Ed Norton go) it's a shame this project will be an EPIC FAIL!!! Perhaps not in he money side of things…. But at least I hope DC will be discouraged to try to do the same crap
That would be the blaxploitation Cap America variant:
“Cap'n Fuckin A: The First Blavenger”.
It's funny that there's only one black guy and the rest are white people. I guess you need to be white to be a hero.
Even Nick Fury was white in the Comics. Be happy lol
pfffttthhhhhhh
Its funny how you have nothing really to base this opinion on. The internet is a funny place…
white people didnt complain about a black woman (Halle Berry) playing Catwoman, or Michael Clark Duncan playing Kingpin, who is white. Its comic books, shut up. Race has to be brought into everything. I just wish they would stick to comics, if the character is white, leave them white, if they are black, leave them black, if they are asian, leave them asian.
well, most of Marvel's heroes were created in a time (1960s) when the default was white. Just how it was, and this is coming from an Asian guy.
It IS Kevin Feige, and he is more than the producer… he is the Marvel Studios' president.
too bad the thing about Norton…he's a better actor than Ruffalo…but I like Mark too…so now we only can wait..
Yeah, but he does write comics, such as the Astonishing X Men…
Don't forget about War Machine
Dude will do fine. Serenity was great, and you didn't even have to know anything about Firefly to enjoy it.
While it's true that white people are overrepresented in this group when compared to overall US demographics, the same is not true of black people. The percentage of black people (slightly higher than 11%) in this group falls almost exactly in line with the percentage of black people in the population at large.
Can someone please explain why Chris Evans has 2 different Marvel roles? And if this movie has all Marvel superheros where are the (un)Fantastic 4? Will Evans play Torch and CA? Don't like this one bit.
Hank Pym? Seems it would be easier to introduce Hawkeye in Iron Man 3 and have him in Avengers 2 than to jump the shark.
Yeah I hope all artistic ventures fail and disappoint people. Seriously arn't their some porn sites you can go on? Movie sites are for discussion, complaing about casting, story changes, and discussing films, not hoping something fails AND discouraging other projects.
So many potentially great projects have been shelved because of some unrelated film flopping or not preforming to some studios ridiculous standard.
And Stan Lee and his writers were white, and were all bassed on or informed by themselves, it's not intentional just something they probably didn't think about, I mean all the villains were white.
Yeah I love Ruffalo, he just seems a bit to nice and untourtured for Hulk, but we've had some many hulks at this point I could really careless unless it's a truly rancid actor.
Different studio, and their films Marvel is probably more than happy to forget.
I think JJ Abrams sucks, but I love than Star Trek movie he did, never underestimate a solid director doing something they really care about.
Don't be stupid. There's plenty of black superheroes, they're just not part of the original Avengers. And what exactly do you have against the whites?
Justice League can go suck it!
jeremy renner looks exactly the part of the Ultimate Hawkeye!
Scarlett J is sooooooooooooo hot.
Dick…
That's one heck of a cast!
Can't wait to see robert downey jr back in his ironman suit xD
They ussually prefer to use real actors, you know? People who can act and make a movie, not just a guy who can fight but can't act.
Help us lobby to get Isaiah Mustafa to play Luke Cage! http://www.facebook.com/OldSpiceGuyAsLukeCage
Old Spice Guy FTW!
