The Vampire Diaries, the CW’s answer to HBO’s vampires and more show, begins its fourth season this October.  While nowhere near as graphic as True Blood, the show does feature plenty of fun for fans of the genre.   In three seasons so far, fans have witnessed some supernatural shenanigans, multiple make out sessions, and lots of brooding.  At this year’s Comic-Con, fans and press got a chance to ask the cast questions during a panel in Ballroom 20 and via one on one and roundtable interviews.

Collider got to speak one on one with cast members Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Michael Trevino, and Zach Roerig.  While all remained tight lipped about potential spoilers for the season, they did speak freely about where their characters were headed, what else they were working on, and what would happen if they met up with the cast of True Blood in an alley.  Check out all five video interviews after the jump.

Michael Trevino plays the werewolf Tyler Lockwood.  When asked about the upcoming season, Trevino had a lot to say about the characters graduating from High School and what that would mean for their respective journeys.  He also firmly believes that if he got into a fight with Joe Manganiello, True Blood’s resident werewolf Alcide, he’d “get his ass kicked.”

Zach Roerig had plenty to say about being the only fully human main character, Matt Donovan, left on the show.   Roerig also talked about trying to protect other characters in the upcoming season and his theater work outside of The Vampire Diaries.  He also explained why the cast seemed to feel he would be most likely to survive if they had to enter The Hunger Games.

Paul Wesley smiled through most of his interview.  As Stefan Salvatore, Wesley gets to brood quite a lot on the show when not being the more outwardly noble of the vampire brothers.  When asked about whether his cast or the cast of True Blood contained better brooding, Wesley suggested he’d simply shank the opposing cast to ensure a victory.

Nina Dobrev was the most concerned about spoilers due to a show rep being right beside her.  She was, however, happy, to speak about how she’ll tackle Elena’s transformation into a vampire in the upcoming season.

Finally Ian Somerhalder made his appearance.  Pressed for time, the man who is Damon Salvatore joked about not even knowing about another show featuring Vampires and Werewolves before stating unequivocally that he could destroy True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård in a staring contest.  This reporter only noticed him blink once during the entire press line.
