As we reported back in November, Sam Worthington is confirmed to star in Ami Canaan Mann’s detective story The Fields. THR confirms part of Pajiba’s original story that Worthington had been cast in the film, but there’s no confirmation (so far) that Bradley Cooper will also star (although Pajiba’s track record of breaking accurate stories has been really impressive thus far). As mentioned in our previous report, the plot concerns two cops who discover that a recent murder in their jurisdiction is connected to the notorious “Killing Fields Murders.” THR adds a little to that description by saying that Worthington will play, “a Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous.”
As for Mann, she is the daughter of Michael Mann (who is co-producing The Fields with Michael Jaffe), and was the second unit director on Heat. Don Ferrarone wrote the script which is based on a true story. Pre-production has already begun in Louisiana and filming is scheduled to begin in early April.
