At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got to sit down with the co–publisher of DC Comics, Dan DiDio. During the wide ranging conversation, he talked about why comic books should be working to be against the grain, where he thinks DC comics will be in three or four years, the difficulty of comic books staying fresh and new when so much has been done before, who his favorite inker is right now, how quickly can DC pivot into what fans respond to, how he feels as a publisher and fan about second and third printings, what surprised him and what didn’t perform as expected at DC comics, and so much more.
