Bond Producer Hopes Daniel Craig Becomes Longest Serving James Bond; Says SKYFALL Reminiscent of GOLDFINGER

Production is finally underway on the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall. Sam Mendes steps behind the director’s chair this time around, and recently legendary Bond producer Michael G. Wilson talked a bit about the film. Wilson says that his hope is for Daniel Craig to surpass Roger Moore’s record of playing James Bond seven times, adding “There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream.” To pass Moore’s record, Craig would have to appear in five more Bond films in order to bring the tally up to eight. I’m a fan of Craig as Bond and I see no reason why the 43-year-old actor couldn’t stick around for a few more years.

Hit the jump to see what else Wilson had to say about Skyfall, including its similarity to Goldfinger.

james-bond-007-skyfall-movie-set-photoIn the interview with People UK, Wilson said that Mendes and Craig are attempting to hit a tone more in tune with the Bond films of the 60s:

“The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean [Connery]. I think that’s what the fans wanted. There’s a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It’s all very exciting. I can’t wait for people to see the movie because I think we’re making a very special Bond.”

It’s certainly high praise, especially coming from someone who’s been involved with the franchise since 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me. I’m super interested to see what Mendes brings to the series, so hopefully everything comes together well. With a terrific cast in tow (including Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes), they’re on the right track. We’ll find out for sure when Skyfall hits theaters November 9th, 2012.

Moore does not hold the record by himself. He and Connery are tied. For some reason (sarcasm intended) the people at Eon Productions don’t seem to count “Never Say Never Again.”

Thats because it was a parody and it wasnt produced by Eon. Therefore, it doesnt really count.

To tell you the real truth offscreen Daniel Craig doesn’t want to be James Bond ever again like the dreadful miscasting of Sean Connery as 007 he sucks! Skyfall has been originally announced not only be Daniel Craig’s third and last outing as James Bond as will drop the guns for the final time on screen, but it will be the very last ever James Bond movie and the only possible way to close down the franchise for good is to kill off 007 for good.

i was kind of hoping a “From Russia with Love-esque” bond rather than a “Goldfinger-esque” bond. Oh well, who’s complaining since both are the best bond films out there. Could the Goldfinger comparison means it’s because it’s gadget oriented?

Whats with all this continued gadget talk? The books are amazing and no gadgets are present. I could die happy without anymore invisible cars, x-ray glasses, and magnetic watches.
