Now that Daredevil has finally found himself, the second season of the hit Netflix series is pulling in the big guns from the comics. I’m not sure if or how the Kingpin will figure into the story (it would be a shame to lose one of the show’s greatest strengths), but Daredevil: Season 2 already has its eye on other major characters, and now it’s looking at a big actor for one of them.

According to Latino-Review, Marvel is eyeing Jason Statham to play Daredevil’s nemesis Bullseye, a villain who always hits his target and can do it with just about anything (which would be a nice dichotomy with a blind character if Daredevil was actually blind). Back in December, we reported that Bullseye might appear in Season 2, and now that looks to be the case. [Update: According to BD, Statham isn't just being eyed for the role, he's "deep in negotiations" for it. With production scheduled for the end of July, expect a casting announcement before then, one way or another. Comic-Con sure seems like a good place to break this exciting bit of news.]

If the show can land Statham, it would be a huge get, although the show doesn’t really need star power at this point. People are already on board, and while casting Statham wouldn’t preclude a better story, that’s what I want for season two. Getting Bullseye and Elektra, as well as bringing in other Marvel-Netflix heroes, should help expand Matt Murdock’s world, and hopefully new showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will be able to handle it.

Statham can currently be seen in theaters in Spy where he’s a total scene-stealer and gives one of his most memorable performances.
