To be fair, Jon Bernthal could probably walk onto the set of Netflix's Daredevil, give a performance that's the amalgamation of his recent roles, and we'd get a pretty good approximation of the Punisher. Luckily, Bernthal is a consummate professional. He's taken to social media to share some of his preparatory work for the vigilante role and has chosen some classic storylines to help him prepare for it. It's unclear at this point whether any of these arcs will be used as inspiration for the actual plot of Daredevil's second season or if they're just for Bernthal's own education.

Let's take a look at which comics he's checking out:

For those of you who are, like me, unfamiliar with "The Resurrection of Ma Gnucchi," here's a summary of the story (via Amazon):

The latest offering from the red-hot Marvel Knights line reunites the seminal creative team of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon for a sequel to their legendary story arc, "Welcome Back, Frank." It all starts when two mobsters take a trip to the zoo and piss off the wrong monkey. Limbs are lost (the kind you can't easily replace), vultures are fed (with said appendages), and then things get, like, really crazy. Like back-from-the-dead crazy! That's right - she's back and she wants payback! Ma Gnucci! Eighty-five pounds of hairless, armless, legless evil!
