Netflix has released a new Daredevil trailer, and it gives us a good look at how Marvel is approaching their upcoming series. Unfortunately, that approach appears to be pretty bland. While it does hammer home that the show is an origin story for both Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and his nemesis the Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), the visuals and the tone are wholly unremarkable. If you told me this would play back-to-back with Gotham, I would believe you.

Hopefully this trailer is misleading and Marvel hasn’t struck out with yet another TV series, especially with a character as popular as Daredevil.

Check out the new Daredevil trailer below. All 13 episodes premiere on Netflix on April 10th. The series also stars Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vondie Curtis HallAyelet Zurer, Bob Gunton, and Scott Glenn.

Here’s the official synopsis for Marvel’s Daredevil:

Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus), Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods), the series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.
