New Footage from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Revealed in New Trailer

     June 3, 2012

Tom Hardy Bane THE DARK KNIGHT RISES image slice

Earlier tonight, the MTV Movie Awards debuted new footage from The Dark Knight Rises.  The way the footage is cut together basically makes it a new unofficial trailer, and there’s plenty of good-looking stuff.  There’s even a new line from Bane (Tom Hardy), which I believe brings the total number of lines we’ve heard from him to three.

Hit the jump to check out the new footage.  As we reported earlier today, the movie might be 2 hours and 45 minutes, and will be played as a part of a marathon at AMC Theaters.  The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20th.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Dark Knight Rises:

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

    epic, let the games begin

  • Brandon

    Thats 5 Bane quotes.

    “When Gotham Is Ashes” quote
    “Gothams Reckoning”
    “Punishment Must Be More Severe”
    “Gotham This Is Your Liberation”
    and now
    “Let The Games Begin”

i watched these stupid “awards” just for this new footage. i absolutely love the music used. i hope it’s from the actual score

    • sher

Sounds like it could be the Catwoman score..epic footage nonetheless!

    • Doug

The music sounds like Zimmer – it was a cross between The Dark Knight and Inception. I also wouldn’t be surprised if that electronic throbbing at the end is part of Bane’s theme, much like the violins for Joker.

  • Romsy

At some point during one of their fights, Bane has to break Batman over his knee. It’s the most iconic Bane moment in comics history, I need to see it in live action.

  • Junierizzle

    Cool footage.

On another note, yo Collider. I don’t know if you are aware but every time I come to the site now I automatically get a pop-up claiming I won a tablet. It completely takes you away from the site. It’s really annoying. Ive used different devices so I know its not on my end If you could address this we would appreciate it Thank you.

    • S Doria

I do not know about anyone else, but I do not have any pop-ups when I come onto the site. I do have pop-ups blocked though, so if that is the reason why I do not get it, I would recommend you do that too Junierizzle…

However, if there is this pop-up on Collider I hope that they do get rid of it, I do not want to see a day when one of my favorite movie sites is ruined with stupid pop-up ads.

    • m7

i get it too. but not on my computer. just when i go to collider on my phone,

  • Lame Duck

Okay, Im completely sold on Anne…from that little bit i saw from the footage, i can already see that she breathes new life into the character.

Oh, I love this! And I also love how they have given Bruce Wayne an American Psycho-ish look, especially his hair! :)

    here we go,brilliant

Did anyone else catch the line from “The Dark Knight Returns” – with the older cop and the young cop? I have a feeling this will be Nolan’s take on that book. By not calling it “Returns,” though, he’s free to tell his story in that framework, but without it being a straight up adaptation.

    • Joe

      Which line is that?

      • Doug

It’s the one where the older cop says, “You’re in for a show tonight kid,” or something to that effect. It’s straight out of THe Dark Knight Returns when Batman makes his first appearance in…10 years, I think. In the book, the rookie is so hyped to take Batman down, but the older cop actually talks to him and welcomes him back to action.

  • Aussiefunk

    JGL is the Batman.

  • Aussiefunk

JGL is Batman. Watch the trailer again.

    • Doug

I don’t buy it. If JGL puts on the Batsuit in this movie, I really doubt Nolan’s going to let an image of that leak out in a sizzle reel/trailer.

I think John Blake is going to be a loyal Gordon cop – think Harvey Bullock. Remember the trailer where they say they’re going to dump Gordon in the spring. The vultures are obviously circling and he needs allies. Now, that doesn’t mean that Blake won’t get wrapped up in the whole Batman thing, but I don’t think he’d become Batman until the very end so that the “Legend / Symbol” can live on. That also doesn’t even mean that Bruce Wayne has to die. They’ve shown us glimpses, but I think the best is yet to come.

  • Livy

Warner Bros is being a Nazi and taking down all the postings of the footage.

  • Griz

Man . . . . .sorry to the people who couldn’t see it before they took it down. . . . . Same thing happened to me with the Anne Hathaway Les Misérables trailer.

As for the TDKR footage . . . .i don’t know if it was the music at the beginning or the way the camera zoomed in on Catwoman sitting in a dark tunnel . .. but it just screamed “Tim burton” for some reason! (by which i mean Batman Returns-Tim Burton, Not Dark Shadows – Tim burton)

  • Singularity

More impressed with Anne Hathaway’s performance here. Looking forward to the rest of it – and the ‘Catwoman’ score.

WOW!!! Sold on Anne Hathaway now, was hoping at the start when she was announced that she had it in her, it seems that Nolan directed her in a way that brought out the best.

And was that Warren Brown in the scene when Bats says “me” when hanging upside down? Warren Brown was DS Ripley in Luther! which was amazing with Idris Elba.

    • Adrian Chan

i swear i thought it was warren brown too!

  • Beebeedeedop

Haven’t been much of a fanboy going crazy about every little detail of this upcoming movie, and I don’t have high expectations (at all), but TOM HARDY is making this look even more worth the while!

Looks like Nolan is doing his classic, sneaky and very effective placement of an absolutely BRILLIANT bad guy to elevate an otherwise average plot (like in TDK)…looks like fun!

  • yeti murphy

am i the only one that noticed coleman reece (the one who figured out bruce is batman) is in this footage? i could be wrong as it goes by very fast, but it looks like that is him being forced to sit down and talk to bane with a bunch of people watching.

also, i am beginning to become more and more certain that it is catwoman, not JGL who will play the role of azrael in this film. those first couple of lines hathaway delivers are pitch-perfect.

  • Mavro

It’s not Coleman Reece. It’s actor Burn Gorman.
