Continuing the trend of showing half of a movie before it opens, a fair amount of new footage from The Dark Knight Rises has been unveiled in the latest TV spot for the film.  Given the lengths to which director Christopher Nolan has gone to keep the plot of The Dark Knight Rises under wraps, I’m really hoping Warner Bros. doesn’t unleash an Avengers-style media blitz in the next month leading up to the final Batman film’s release (though I’m not holding my breath).  That said, if you’re interested in a few new bits of footage this TV spot gives us a scene between Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and some fun Christian Bale/Morgan Freeman banter.

Hit the jump to watch the TV spot.  The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, and Marion CotillardThe Dark Knight Rises opens on July 20th.

  1. If there’s any doubt remaining as to whether Bane breaks the bat, that cane plus the earlier scene where he’s clearly in a wheelchair pretty much seal the deal.

    • Pretty much, except maybe not.

Bruce may be coming into Rises with some residual injuries from the TDK-era.

      • @ Singularity, it is 8 years later. Any injuries that Bruce Wayne has from TDK should have healed by then. && If they have not, then he should be smart enough to know that he has no business being Batman with an injury still leaving him that weak from TDK.

      • i think Nolan is definitely trolling us, and that Bruce is just faking having a injury to appear distant from batman (similar to what he did in year one, when Gordons went to interview him), or just a TDK leftover injury. Nolan is sure everyone would expect Bane to break the back, and is deliberately throwing us off. Who agrees

  2. I’ve seen atleast 25 minutes of this movie already and can see more or less where it’s going i don’t think JGL is ging to be batman.

  3. less than a month ago i was just dying to see any footage..After today I think I have seen too much. No more tv spots please …don’t want this to get spoiled like the last one. I miss the Begins days..

  4. My gosh. Every time, I tell myself: how much more excited could I possibly get? But every time, it boosts my excitement threefold.

This movie is going to beat The Dark Knight in quality AND quantity (box office). I can feel it.

  5. If anyone doesn’t want to see more, you will have to actively avoid it. It’s the way it goes nowadays and it works.

This is probably the last thing I’ll watch on purpose. At least it shows the movie has some levity. :)

  6. I seriously doubt it will beat The Dark Knight or The Avengers in terms of Box Office. I’m not trying to be negative or anything because i’m pysched for the movie but phenomenon’s like that only happen so often much less twice in the same summer, but hey what do I know?

      • I’d be surprised if it beat the Avengers, too. I’d say it ends up at either 4 or 5, beating Transformers: Dark of the Moon and maybe/probably Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. That’s my best guess right now.

      • My guess is your a total fucking idiot. This movie will have more attendance than the lines of dudes what made love to your whore mother….which must be in the hundreds of millions.

      • @ t

your comment is terrible. you sincerely deserve to be banned from Collider. I enjoy the occasional ribbing from posts, but this is a bit much. Collider, a webmaster that can enforce a modicum of maturity and security to this site would be appreciated.

  7. I sort of liked Batman Begins, and I did not enjoy the Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan is not my guy, so this movie has never been on my radar. I’m sure it will be successful, commercially and critically, but I have no desire to see this film.

    • You know, I’ve heard of mountains of idiots who complain and groan at this movie, all of which make it clear they don’t like it or want to see it. I think you are the first intelligent person to actually make his reasoning, well, reasonable lol. I respect anyone who says “I have no desire to see this film because (enter legitimate reason here).” Thank you. :)

  8. It’s been stated, clearly by the Nolan camp.. Bane breaks the bat. Bane is an agent of the League of Assassins, and breaks the Bat not just to defeat the man, but to tear down his legend. No trolling here guys, we will see Batman fall… and I suspect we’ll see him fall twice.

  9. i agree…but what i meant is Nolan prob wont have Nolan break HIS BACK specifically…could just kick the shit out of batman equal to his fall?

  10. You guys that watch all these tv spots are fools in my opinion. Have some self control man. WAIT till you’re actually seated in the cinemar, waiting in intesapation for one of the greatest movie experiences in your life, for a movie with sequenses and scenes you haven’t seen. I think it’s sad what marketing has done to the film industry and guys like you embrace this bullshit.

  11. I heard that the very beginning of the movie starts off right where TDK ended. Bane and henchmen intercept Batman in a tunnel while he’s escaping on the Batpod and Bane kicks Batman’s ass and breaks his back. Bane knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Fast forward eight years and Bruce Wayne is in prison somewhere, having finally been caught. He heals, escapes and makes his way home to Gotham. The Dark Knight rises.

  12. I also found supposed list of those who die and those who live. Bruce Wayne, Gordon, and Selina Kyle live. Bane and Lucius Fox die. Bane kills himself at the end after receiving a beat down at the hands of Bats. He concedes defeat and control of Gotham and does the “honorable” thing and kills himself by removing his mask, succumbing to his previous injuries.
