While recent The Dark Knight Rises casting has focused on newcomers to the production, today we have a bit of news regarding a familiar face. Variety reports that Nestor Carbonell (Lost) is in talks to reprise his role as Gotham City’s Mayor. Perhaps this time around, he’ll actually get a real name (in The Dark Knight, Carbonell is only credited as “Mayor”).
Carbonell joins returning cast members Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman. New faces to the franchise include Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, and Burn Gorman. Filming will begin this summer in Pittsburgh. The Dark Knight Rises is set to open on July 20, 2012. Click here for all of our coverage on the flick.

That’s good, nice to still have that continuity. And, yes, he does deserve to have a name this time around.
The full name of the mayor was “Anthony Garcia”
And yet in the film’s closing credits, he is credited only as “Mayor”.
Why wouldn’t they give him credit with an actual name. Wasn’t it Mayor Garcia or something…??
I don’t have a clue about it, if you watch TDK you’ll see his full name through but not in the credits… The reason? Maybe Chris Nolan is racist, therefore he decided to cast a brit instead of a latino for the role of BANE
Never noticed this before, but what’s going on over Carbonell’s right shoulder in the image capture? It looks like a guy is either embraced in a hug or swallowing someone’s head.
Actually, I think he’s holding the Joker’s jacket in one hand, and if you look closely you’ll see his other hand is holding something, perhaps one of the Joker’s knives. The jacket is closer to us, at the side of the guy’s face. He’s not smelling it. Unless that kind of thing turns him on.

Nice. I think his role in TDK was short but memorable. I love the part when he starts monologuing then faces a window only to get a nasty surprise from The Joker. haha:P
